SEMI Announces Establishment of India High-Brightness LED and Semiconductor Lighting Industry Group

Recently, the India Chapter of SEMI (Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International) announced the establishment of the India High-Brightness LED and Semiconductor Lighting Industry Group (India SSL Special Interest Group).

　　The newly established semiconductor lighting industry group under SEMI will focus on materials, equipment, and production-related issues, further promoting the comprehensive development of the industry by reducing costs, improving quality, developing the supply chain, and accelerating industrial development. Currently, members of the newly established industry group include SEMI members and some core industry leaders in the high-brightness LED market.

　　The India SSL Special Interest Group will host an industry forum at the India Solar Industry 2011 Annual Conference held in Hyderabad, India from November 9 to 11, to discuss the development of LED technology with participating LED manufacturers, LED suppliers, researchers, and representatives from other sectors. In addition, it will promote the establishment of an emerging semiconductor lighting manufacturing industry ecosystem in India. Considering the significant development opportunities of semiconductor lighting technology and the huge social benefits brought by its rapid application, SEMI has increased its service efforts for LED industry members in recent years. SEMI will provide various services and organize numerous events, including exhibitions, pavilion services, webinars, standardization development, industry market research (including an optoelectronic/LED semiconductor database), and international industry support. India's LED lighting industry market is expected to grow rapidly at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 41.5%, reaching USD 399 million by 2015.
