The 12th Meeting of the Urban Road Lighting Committee of the China Municipal Engineering Association Successfully Concluded

The 4th Council Meeting of the 11th Term and the 12th Annual Meeting of the Urban Road Lighting Committee of the China Municipal Engineering Association and the General Technical Information Station for Urban Road Lighting were held in Tianjin from May 18 to 20. The conference was hosted by the Urban Road Lighting Committee of the China Municipal Engineering Association and organized by the Tianjin Street Lighting Management Office. Attendees included leaders from the China Municipal Engineering Association and Tianjin Electric Power Company, as well as principal persons in charge from road lighting management units across the country and over 400 representatives from various street lighting units and manufacturers of urban lighting equipment.

Meeting Venue

The conference was chaired by Mr. Shen Xun, Secretary-General of the China Municipal Engineering Association. Mr. Wen Tao, Vice Chairman of the Urban Road Lighting Committee, delivered the welcome address. Leaders including Mr. Jin Dejun, President of the China Municipal Engineering Association, and Mr. Liu Heming, Deputy Director-General of the Urban Construction Department of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, delivered speeches respectively. They fully affirmed the achievements made by the Urban Road Lighting Committee in technical information exchanges since the 11th Annual Meeting, and pointed out that managing urban lighting work well for the benefit of the people, developing LED and solar energy conservation and emission reduction, promoting low-carbon green lighting, and advancing sustainable urban development are unshirkable responsibilities of the urban lighting industry.

　　In addition, road lighting management units from Wuhan in Hubei, Changzhou in Jiangsu, Shenzhen in Guangdong, and other regions shared their successful streetlight management experiences with the attendees at the meeting.

　　As a leading company in the western outdoor lighting fixture industry, Huatian also shared its successful experience at the meeting. Professor Li Daixiong, the company's Corporate Culture Director and Design Director, delivered a speech titled "The Path to Personalized Road Lighting." He argued that road lighting should not only fulfill its functional role of illumination, but should also meet people's psychological and emotional needs. Beyond demonstrating differentiation through various combinations of form, material, and color, lighting installations should also integrate the historical, cultural, and aesthetic differences of different regions, pursuing the path of personalized road lighting. Through differentiation in roads and landscape environments, the general public can gain a greater sense of value. Personalized road lighting can be achieved through multiple expression approaches, including those that reflect history, ethnic heritage, aesthetic beauty, or harmony with the environment.

Expert Presentations

　　According to the census statistics of the Urban Road Lighting Professional Committee of the China Municipal Engineering Association, covering 811 urban lighting management units nationwide, in recent years the total investment across all cities has reached approximately 43 billion yuan, with about 15 billion yuan invested in newly built and renovated streetlights. The streetlight lighting rate on urban main roads has reached over 98%, while that on secondary roads and branch roads exceeds 96%. In addition, the application of advanced technologies such as low-carbon lighting and intelligent control has given rise to new characteristics in urban lighting development, namely "dimmer lighting, higher energy efficiency, and more refined control," further renewing the concept of urban lighting.

　　According to reports, by the end of 2010, urban lighting facilities in 811 cities nationwide had reached over 21.66 million units; various power distribution lines for urban road lighting had exceeded 361,700 kilometers; various vehicles including aerial work vehicles had reached 6,258 units; cities applying intelligent wireless monitoring technology had increased to 263; and the number of employees in urban lighting management units had reached 33,185.
