Tsim Sha Tsui in Hong Kong faces wave of complaints over light pollution

Following complaints by Tsim Sha Tsui residents in Hong Kong regarding a three-story-high LED billboard on the rooftop of The One shopping mall, residents of the luxury residence The Masterpiece in Tsim Sha Tsui have launched a new wave of complaints against buildings and shops in the district with overly bright lighting.

Residents are concerned that light pollution in the district will spiral out of control. Complaints promptly submitted to the Environmental Protection Department have listed district buildings such as The Masterpiece, Mira, The One, and International Square, pointing to signs that light pollution in the district is spiraling out of control, and worrying that developers will only intensify their practices.

The residents hope that developers can recognize that the lighting designs of those buildings are tasteless and unpleasant, and voluntarily dim the lights.
