Fudan Electric Light Source Institute Sets Sail and Forges Ahead

On the eve of the 2018 Winter Solstice, a reunion gathering for all retired staff was held in Room 301 of the Electric Light Source Building. The event was jointly organized by the Retired Party Branch of the Electric Light Source Department/Institute of Fudan University, the Senior Faculty Association, and the Retirement Office, with support from the School of Information Science and Technology and the leadership of the department and institute. In addition to about 40 retired staff members, the gathering was attended by Yan Hua (School Party Secretary), Xu Wei, Ma Bo, and Guo Ruiqian (Director of the Department and Institute), along with Sheng Chunye (Chief Engineer of Yuzhong Gaohong Company in Lin'an City, Hangzhou, Zhejiang—a closely collaborating unit) and Ms. Cai Zhongmin (daughter of Professor Cai Zuoang).

会议首先由郭睿倩老师的亲切问候和良好祝愿开始，她汇报了系所近期的发展佳音，尤其提到我们系所近期将成立复旦智慧能源中心和超越照明研究所，同时系所将获得广东中山市的1亿2千万元科研经费等好消息，并表示系所将永远不会忘记所有退休人员的贡献，并在最大可能范围内，关心和满足大家的需求。接着，深受所有退休人员爱戴的马波老师讲话，她汇报了近期院里对退休人员的送温暖活动，感谢大家的支持和希望大家继续帮助她搞好工作。徐蔚老师宣布院里将设立故事室，邀请各位退休老师来讲好传统和好作风的故事，以便存档和发扬光大，真正做到不忘初心砥砺前行。

Next, Sheng Chunye, Chief Engineer of Yuzhong Gaohong Company in Lin'an, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province—a close partner organization—spoke and delivered an academic report, as shown in Figure 3. On behalf of Chairman Zhang Linfu, she first expressed gratitude to Professor Cai Zuquan and the retired teachers for helping their company start from scratch with energy-saving lamps, achieving an annual output value of 2 billion yuan. She then reported in detail on their recent transformation into the IT industry, with the prospect of reaching an annual output value of 10 billion yuan within four years. She expressed hope for continued support from the department and welcomed everyone to visit and provide guidance. Ms. Cai Zhongmin, on behalf of her father Professor Cai Zuquan and her 89-year-old mother, extended holiday greetings to everyone and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the outstanding contributions made by everyone to the successful 40th anniversary of the Light Source Institute. She also presented warm holiday gifts to each retired person. As the meeting drew to a close, Yan Hua, Party Secretary of the College, hurried over from a university meeting. She expressed respect and admiration for the Institute of Electric Light Sources with its glorious historical traditions, thanked all retired employees for their valuable contributions to the 40th anniversary of the institute, and personally presented certificates to more than 20 retired personnel and took photos for keepsakes, as shown in Figure 4. She emotionally stated: "Your today is the tomorrow of us in-service teachers." She said we must care for all retired personnel and remember everyone's valuable contributions. During the upcoming relocation of the Information College, no matter how tight the room situation is, we must preserve a sense of home and activity space for retired employees. In the future, when our in-service teachers' salaries increase, we will never forget to include a share for retired personnel. We must ensure that everyone can continue to contribute and enjoy a wonderful and pleasant time in their later years. The entire event, lasting more than an hour, was filled with an atmosphere of harmony and joy, and concluded under the inspiration of the spirit of forging ahead vigorously.
