Sensity Raises Over RMB 200 Million for Smart Lighting Network with Backing from GE and Other Major Companies

Sensity Systems, a rising player in the Light Sensor Networks (LSNs) market, recently secured $36 million (approximately RMB 224 million) in private financing, led by Cisco Investments, the venture capital arm of renowned US tech giant Cisco. Other investors include Acuity Brands, a major US lighting industry company, GE Ventures, the venture arm of industrial giant General Electric (GE), and Simon Venture Group. In addition to the four companies mentioned above, Sensity has also received backing from several venture capital firms, including Almaz Capital, Mohr Davidow Ventures, Radar Partners, and Silver Creek Ventures, bringing total funding to date to $74 million (approximately RMB 460 million).

According to information provided by Sensity, this round of financing will be used to expand the global NetSense platform and application development program, a key component of the smart lighting ecosystem and light sensor networks.

Sensity President and CEO Hugh Martin stated: "This investment strategy—from the world's major brands to the Internet of Everything (IoE), LED lighting, and the retail industry—further validates that Sensity's Light Sensory Network (LSN) is currently a hot technology. It is not only practically feasible and widely applied in the industry, but the data on its platform is also at a global scale."

Sensity is a pioneer opening the way for an entirely new Light Sensory Network industry, combining relevant technologies, integrating professional expertise, and connecting a complete partner ecosystem. The Light Sensory Network represents a comprehensive upgrade of lighting infrastructure, collecting and transmitting data through embedded sensors, wireless connectivity systems, and luminaire data analytics, while activating cloud-based applications and services for smart cities, smart parking, retail services, security and public safety, environmental monitoring, and other applications.

Martin also pointed out: "The core role of technology is to provide a better living environment for people worldwide. To achieve the goal of improving human life, we must first find a way to measure the current state of this physical world and synchronously analyze this data. At present, no other company can provide equivalent resources and platform components to satisfy the global market. Sensity has essentially created a platform for major global enterprises, enabling them to gather this data to realize this vision, allowing different companies to transform from hardware-centric traditional manufacturers into providers of technology, services, and information."

Sensity emphasized that the company will use these raised funds to expand the cloud-based NetSense Light Sensory Network platform and Internet of Things (IoT) application network, increasing the added value of more products, and enabling customers to achieve optimization, increase safety, and reduce energy consumption through integrated data and analytics of the Industrial Internet of Things. At the same time, the company will also invest funds in installation partners for the global Light Sensory Network.
