Chongqing Xinghe adopts Cree lighting-grade LEDs to light up the LED street light energy-saving renovation project in Yubei District, Chongqing

　　The LED street light energy-saving renovation project in Yubei District, Chongqing, a collaboration between Cree (Nasdaq: CREE) and Chongqing Xinghe Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., has completed its initial phase and successfully lit up. Since 2013, Yubei District, Chongqing has fully launched its LED street light energy-saving renovation project, replacing all road lighting in its 7 areas—including Huixing, Lianglu, Longxi, Konggang Industrial Park, Taishang Industrial Park, Agricultural Science and Technology Park, and Konggang New City—with LED street lights. After multiple rounds of selection, Chongqing Xinghe Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. won the bid for the project, using all of Cree's high-performance 4,000K color temperature lighting-grade XLamp XT-E LED devices.

　　The project owner, Chongqing Jianlong Urban Construction Engineering Co., Ltd., stated: "After completing the initial phase of the LED street light energy-saving renovation in Yubei District, the relevant illumination has significantly improved compared to before the renovation, while achieving energy savings of over 50%. According to current statistics, the lamp failure rate is extremely low, approximately one-thousandth. The LED street light renovation across the entire Yubei area has been very successful, not only dispelling most people's concerns about the large-scale application of LED street lights, but also serving as a reference for other regions."

The Yubei District Municipal Administration Bureau stated: "This project strictly follows the basic construction procedures for road lighting, refines the selection of LED luminaire types and lighting power density for expressways, primary roads, secondary roads, and branch roads with different functions, and ensures compliance with the requirements of the 'Urban Road Lighting Design Standard' (CJJ45-2006). Upon completion, the project is expected to save 15.86 million kWh of electricity and at least 11.1 million yuan in electricity costs annually, equivalent to annual savings of 1,949 tons of standard coal, and reductions of 6,043 tons of carbon dioxide and 174 tons of sulfur dioxide emissions. This is of great significance for enhancing the urban image of our district and improving the living environment of residents. Going forward, we will further strengthen the promotion and use of energy-saving products in newly built municipal public facilities, integrating low-carbon and energy-saving concepts throughout municipal construction and management."
