On an early May evening at dusk, the chill of early spring still pervaded the Northeast, yet the indoor temperature inside the Anshan Hatong Bearing Forging Factory had already soared to forty degrees Celsius. As the thick red steel pipes were ground and came out of the furnace, fine iron filings lingered in the air for a long time, making the factory ceiling lights—which should have provided sufficient illumination—appear somewhat hazy.

　　"Hang the new LED high-bay lights up right away!" Director Yu ordered the electrician team with composure, instructing them to replace the newly purchased factory lights with the old traditional high-pressure sodium lamps. "Energy conservation and environmental protection are not just government policies, but for factory work environments with extremely long working hours, they are also an important source of cost savings." 　　自从日本大海啸导致核电厂的停摆后，全国陷入电力能源危机，也致使日本政府不得不祭出补助产业，以LED灯替换原有传统照明的节能政策。“全世界已悄然地向LED照明领域迈进，正以铺天盖地的速度弥补传统照明不环保、浪费电力的缺陷。”陈总向记者说明了LED的发展趋势，并强调作为世界工厂、研发技术基地，以及本身拥有广大内耗市场的中国大陆，未来将是LED产业的兵家必争之地。

　　“LED照明的研发仍在不断地改良进步中，但节能减碳不能只当作口号来喊，业界必须深切认知，LED灯的频闪、辐射问题，并未被广泛的注意。”陈总原本是台湾媒体业的尖兵，也曾是报导两岸新闻的专业主编，五年前投入高科技领域，再转往最具潜力的LED市场。就他娓娓道来的过程中，我们终于了解耀格光电U-GET的企业起源，系来自于爱尔兰，也是欧洲节能环保意识最强的国家，从2002年成立后，短短三年内便在美国西岸的加州成立分部，也是由于欧美的经验，股东们决定在大陆设立分公司，一方面解决企业生产制造的问题，一方面使公司更具竞争力。

That's why, amid thousands of LED lighting manufacturers competing in mainland China, Yaoguang Optoelectronics still has its own space to grow," emphasized Chen Bang-yu, Asia-Pacific General Manager of Yaoguang Optoelectronics. "What we pursue is not scale, nor the vanity of being an industry leader, but rather the practical introduction of a different technical choice for the concept of LED energy conservation and environmental protection within the industry. This is an independent path, but the future will prove that this is what a responsible enterprise should do."

　　General Manager Chen explained that the core philosophy of Yaoguang Optoelectronics' corporate culture comes from the "peace of mind, reassurance, and confidence" that consumers feel after using the products. From a long-term strategic perspective, these six characters must be fully practiced to secure a place in the market, because too many LED lighting products merely capitalize on the three letters "LED" without any real substantive content. In short, insufficient technical content and quality stability will only cause LED products to inflict secondary environmental damage.

　　General Manager Chen introduced Dr. Cai, the R&D Director of Yaoguang Optoelectronics, who was once recruited by a U.S. Navy laboratory to research light sources for 14 years and was also hired by the internationally renowned semiconductor company Intel to explore the future possibilities of optical transmission for telecommunications. This scholar, just over sixty years old, noted that as civilization develops, human living environments and architecture have always been closely related. In particular, indoor architectural lighting has an extremely critical impact on people's physical health.

　　Through Dr. Cai's explanation, it turns out that we have always thought that electromagnetic radiation meant using microwave ovens less and not carrying mobile phones close to our bodies, without realizing that long-term exposure to traditional lighting sources is actually the greatest hazard. Hard-working employees in offices and diligent students sitting under desk lamps overlook the amount of time they are exposed to light daily. The hidden dangers to the human body are far greater than those from the electronic products we can see. Therefore, Dr. Cai improved the power supply, a critical component in LED lighting that is the main source of flicker and radiation in LEDs. The solution must address the root cause. Yet they possess a focused and steadfast conviction, with the endurance of missionaries and the staying power of an aircraft carrier.
