2012 Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition Product Competition Concludes with Complete Success

　　On the evening of June 9, the awards ceremony of the 2012 Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition Product Competition was grandly held at the Canton Tower. More than 1,000 people attended the event, including Mr. Bao Sifeng, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt Asia Holding Ltd., Mr. Du Chenghua, Chairman of Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co., Ltd., Mr. Pan Wenbo, Director of Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co., Ltd., Mr. Hu Zhongshun, General Manager of Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co., Ltd., Mr. Xu Huai, President of the China Illuminating Engineering Society, Ms. Liu Shengping, President of the China Association of Lighting Industry, some final judges of the product competition, professional judges and winning companies.

　　At the awards ceremony, Mr. Hu Zhongshun, on behalf of the organizers of the competition, delivered a speech in which he stated that by combining the expertise of industry societies, associations, academies and institutions both at home and abroad, and using the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition as a platform to launch a batch of outstanding products, the aim is to encourage enterprises to intensify their independent innovation in technology research and development, product design and manufacturing, and to promote the rapid development of the brands of lighting electrical enterprises with promising prospects. To ensure the openness, fairness and impartiality of the product competition, and to enable the winning products to represent the advanced level of the exhibited products of this edition, the product review was divided into three steps: "Online Selection, Professional Selection and Expert Final Review". In the "Expert Final Review" stage, the organizers specially invited renowned experts, scholars or designers including Zhang Haicong, Zhan Qingxuan, Yang Zhengming, Ren Yuanhui, Li Jingse, Zhu Shaolong, Zhao Jianping, Dou Linping, Wang Haibo, Luo Yi, Shen Jiping, Xiao Hongqing, Wang Jiyuan, Yu Bing, Wang Lixiong, Wang Meng, Wang Youjiang, An Xiaojie, Quan Jian, Wu Yiyu, Qian Keyuan, Gao Peijun, Wang Jingchi, Li Zili and An Lanpo to serve as judges. China is a major producer of lighting products, with huge quantities, a wide variety of products and rich content. However, the quality and artistic standards of the products are still only average, and there remains a considerable gap with international brands, as well as a lack of competitiveness in the world's mid-to-high-end market. Although there have been some improvements in recent years, the reality of lacking benchmark products still hampers our progress. Therefore, this event is expected to become an opportunity to establish goals and direction.

　　Zhang Haicong, the Chief Judge of this product competition, stated in his speech: "The number of products submitted for this competition, the length of the selection process, the strictness of the product selection and the breadth of the categories selected are all unprecedented and highly representative."

　　The competition featured over 70,000 products from 1,600 participating companies. Companies submitted entries online through the "Online Exhibition Hall" for online selection, then went through "Professional Selection" by over 100 professional judges, and finally entered the "Final Expert" review. The process lasted over 10 months, narrowing from over 70,000 entries to 40 winners, covering 5 major categories and 57 sub-categories.

　　The award ceremony first presented honorary certificates and souvenirs to the 117 "Final Experts" and "Professional Judges" of this product competition, in recognition of their efforts in ensuring the successful organization of the product competition. 　　On August 1, 2011, the "2012 Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition Product Competition", organized by Guangzhou Guangya Frankfurt Exhibition Co., Ltd. and hosted by All Lighting Network, New Century LED Network, and Guangya International Site, kicked off. Once the 2012 Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition Product Competition was launched, it immediately received a wide response from the industry. As of March 31, 2012, more than 1,600 companies had uploaded nearly 70,000 products from their companies to the "Online Exhibition Hall" on All Lighting Network for evaluation. At the same time, in the online selection stage, after online voting, 895 products were selected from over 70,000 participating products to enter the professional selection stage. In the professional selection, the organizers arranged 94 expert judges from various fields of the national lighting industry to conduct on-site visits, inspections and evaluations of the participating companies whose products were shortlisted in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Changzhou, Huzhou and other regions, and selected 298 shortlisted products to enter the final expert selection stage.

　　During the final expert review phase, the 20 final experts conducted assessments and evaluations on the basis of the 298 shortlisted products selected by the professional judges, combined with the detailed materials of the lighting products provided by the enterprises. The assessments were carried out in detail from various aspects, including design appearance, lighting material, energy-saving concept, and technical parameters. During the review process, the atmosphere was quite intense, with experts engaging in loud discussions and debates, as well as quiet consultations and explorations. Every shortlisted lighting appliance product was carefully assessed and compared, and a preliminary opinion on the selected products was reached. At the final review meeting, the 20 final experts also put forward many suggestions and valuable experience for next year's product competition based on the relevant circumstances of this product competition.

　　On June 9, 2012, the opening day of the 2012 Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, the organizer arranged 20 final experts to conduct on-site assessment and review of the award candidate products selected by the final review meeting.
