On June 9-10, during the world's largest lighting exhibition — Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition & LED Exhibition, the LED industry's premier event "2012 Asia LED Summit Forum" will be grandly held. Compared with previous years, what new highlights does the second Asia LED Summit Forum have? Let's take a sneak peek!

Highlight One: Nakamura Shuji and George Crawford "On Hand"

Core: What cutting-edge technologies they will bring that may impact the LED industry.

Nakamura Shuji and George Craford are household names in the industry. One is known as the father of the blue LED; he developed the blue LED, which enabled LED manufacturers to produce LEDs in the three primary colors (red, green, and blue), thereby making it possible to achieve 16 million colors. More importantly, the LED industry leveraged this new technology to begin the commercial production of white LEDs. The other is the father of the yellow LED; Craford's research has mainly focused on the development of visible-light LEDs using III-V compound semiconductor materials. He has been devoted to developing high-brightness, high-energy-efficiency LED chips and promoting the commercialization of LEDs, thereby making tremendous contributions to reducing the high energy consumption and environmental pollution associated with traditional lighting sources.

It is reported that at the "2012 Asian LED Summit Forum", Dr. Nakamura Shuji will focus on elaborating on "Current Status and Prospects of Nitride Substrate LED Development", while Mr. George Craford will forecast "LED Technology Trends: Enabling Continuous Improvement of Lighting Systems". For those who wish to meet them up close, this forum is not to be missed.

Highlight Two: The Four Powers Discuss the Asian LED Industry Landscape

Core: The Great Chess Game of the LED Industry—How Will the Four Asian Powers Place Their Pieces?

Looking at the global LED industry development map, European and American countries occupy the high-end market with a market share of approximately 20%, while in 2010 the combined market share of Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and mainland China had already reached 81.3%, making Asia the main LED production base. Clearly, in the future competition for global LED status and market share, Asia will be the main battleground. Among these, the development of the four powers—Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and mainland China—is crucial and plays a decisive role in the global LED chess game. So, what is the current status of LED industry development in these four Asian powers? What will the future landscape look like? And how should LED companies grasp the overall development of the LED industry?

At this forum, Mr. Wan Xihong, Director of the Guangdong Guangya Lighting Research Institute, will focus on how Chinese LED enterprises can respond to opportunities and challenges. Dr. Fang Bingguo, Chief Director of the Korea LED Supply Association, will elaborate on "How to Provide LED Lighting for Underground Parking Garages".
