Although some once questioned the development prospects of LED and even called for a "stop," this failed to dampen people's expectations and enthusiasm for LED. More and more LED lighting products are shining in our lives—LED landscape lights, LED indoor lights, LED streetlights, LED displays... LED products are everywhere.

The National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Commerce, General Administration of Customs, State Administration for Industry and Commerce, and General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine jointly issued the "Announcement on Gradually Banning the Import and Sale of Incandescent Lamps for General Lighting," deciding to gradually ban the import and sale of ordinary incandescent lamps for general lighting in phases according to wattage starting from October 1, 2012. With the advancement of the "national energy conservation and emission reduction" strategy under the 12th Five-Year Plan, the lighting industry has begun to enter the "conservation" era.

As incandescent bulbs exit the historical stage, the LED industry will officially enter its golden period of development. The "conservation" strategy it advocates has become a focus of China's green lighting engineering development. According to insiders, the National Development and Reform Commission plans to invest 8 billion yuan to subsidize civilian LED lighting, with the key to this huge investment lying in LED's energy-saving technology and long-term strategic development.

Some LED lighting companies adopt low-price strategies, but the quality of product components cannot be guaranteed. Consumers who purchase poor-quality LED products will find that their lifespan and energy-saving performance are greatly reduced. Therefore, users must consider from a long-term perspective when selecting LED light source products.

In addition, relevant industry professionals have expressed their views on the development of LED lighting after incandescent lamps: the withdrawal of incandescent lamps from the historical stage is inevitable. In the new era, LED lamps in consumer applications should pursue not only electricity savings, but also "peace of mind" for safe electricity use and "money savings" through careful calculation. More energy-efficient and durable LED lamps will become the lighting products most needed by consumers.

With the gradual phase-out of incandescent lamps within 5 years and the arrival of the "saving" era of LED lighting, the LED lighting industry has also ushered in a period of integration from its chaotic development status. Under the general trend of industry development, it is obvious that the unstoppable wave of LED development has made the various doubts of the past insignificant, and the public has more recognition and expectations for LEDs.
