According to Kyodo News on November 9, Panasonic announced on the 8th that it plans to increase the group's LED lighting business sales revenue to over 200 billion yen by fiscal 2015. As Japanese consumers become more aware of energy conservation, domestic LED lighting demand is expected to grow. Panasonic will focus on boosting sales in Japan while expanding business in overseas markets such as China.

According to Panasonic's research, the global LED lighting market was 600 billion yen in fiscal 2010, and is expected to expand to 2.6 trillion yen by fiscal 2015. Panasonic will strive to achieve approximately 10 % of the global market share at that time.

According to the plan, sales revenue from LED lighting-related components and light bulbs should reach 160 billion yen domestically and 40 billion yen overseas by fiscal 2015, totaling 200 billion yen. LED's share of the overall lighting business will increase to 50 %. Actual LED lighting sales revenue for fiscal 2010 was 28.6 billion yen domestically and 3.7 billion yen overseas, totaling 32.3 billion yen; sales revenue five years later is targeted to be more than 6 times the current level.

Panasonic will significantly expand sales in the domestic market by enriching its product lineup, and will focus on promoting building lighting fixtures and household light bulbs in China. The company will also strengthen parts sales to lighting fixture manufacturers in Europe and America.
