Cooper Lighting and the Long Island Power Authority will join forces next year with nine electrical distributors to promote Energy Star SSL residential LED lighting.

Residents of Long Island, New York, can purchase Cooper's Energy Star certified All-Pro retrofit LED recessed downlights at significant discounts in November. This is because the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) has partnered with 9 electrical distributors and is promoting solid-state lighting (SSL) technology as an energy-saving tool through its residential energy-efficient lighting program.

Cooper All-Pro Retrofit LED Recessed Downlight

The Cooper All-Pro retrofit LED downlight can replace existing 15W incandescent downlights, delivering the typical light output of a 65W BR30 incandescent lamp at 600 lumens with a color temperature of 3000K (warm white). The product includes an LED module and recessed fixture, designed for 5–6 inch applications, offering up to 75% energy savings and a lifespan of 50,000 hours—equivalent to over 20 years of normal use—at least 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs. This translates to $350 in consumer savings, with the downlight priced at approximately $40 (though significant discounts will be available during the November Long Island sale).
