Toshiba Lighting Technology Releases Wide-Distribution LED Bulb with Heat Dissipation from the Lamp Shade
Toshiba Lighting Technology has released a new bulb-type LED lighting product—the wide-distribution "Standard Bulb Type 10.6W." The light distribution angle is 260°, the same as that of bulb-type fluorescent lamps. Brightness is equivalent to a 60W incandescent bulb, with a luminous flux of 1000lm for daylight white and 810lm for bulb color. The company stated that "the brightness is the highest in the industry among wide-distribution products." Rated power consumption is 10.6W for all models. Sales are scheduled to begin on November 15, 2011.
To effectively release the heat generated by the LED elements to the outside, the new product features rib-like heat dissipation plates called "Triple Arch Heat Dissipation Plates" installed at three positions inside the lamp shade (the dome-shaped cover portion). In LED bulbs, the heat generated by the LED elements is generally dissipated through the housing where the power supply and substrate are mounted. In the new product, however, the heat transferred from the LED elements to the substrate is released from the lamp shade via the Triple Arch Heat Dissipation Plates. As a result, heat dissipation efficiency has been improved compared to the previous product, achieving brightness equivalent to a 60W bulb while maintaining the bulb shape.
