Night Scene Lighting System Construction Turns Tianjin into a Dazzling Sleepless City
In recent years, the construction of the night scene lighting system has made Tianjin a dazzling city that never sleeps. Tianjin's night lighting design is not only gorgeous but also emphasizes energy conservation and low carbon. Reporters learned from the "2011 Green Lighting and Urban Development Forum" hosted by the China Energy Conservation Association and the Tianjin Municipal Appearance and Gardens Committee that the Haihe River night scene has recently added five new highlights. In the future, the city will continue to vigorously promote green lighting and explore new ideas and methods for low-carbon lighting. The overall renovation of the Haihe River night scene lighting emphasizes both brilliance and energy conservation.

Flowing Light and Shadow, Haihe River Shines
Now, the upgraded three-kilometer night scene lighting system along the Haihe River has made its brilliant debut. With dynamism as its theme, the lighting adds five new highlights, forming a core scenic belt where water, banks, bridges, and greenery complement one another. The five new highlights of the Haihe River night scene lighting include: first, the installation of "PP lamp projection" equipment near the First Thermal Power Plant, with the power plant serving as a projection carrier that will be illuminated as a whole. With the development and renovation along the Haihe River banks, the power plant will be relocated in the near future, but for the projection lighting there is absolutely no loss, as the lighting equipment can continue to be used. In addition to the power plant being utilized, the large chimney next to it is also one of the highlights. The chimney has no distinctive shape and appears even more monotonous in the dark night; this year the chimney has also been incorporated into the lighting carrier and specially packaged for it, so that citizens can see a colorful chimney—a truly ingenious design.
Secondly, the Hyatt Hotel will be used to stage a laser show, showcasing a modern lighting system. Citizens will be able to enjoy dynamic laser performances in the night sky, a real feast for the eyes. In addition, a new scenic dock has been added along the bank of the Haihe River, providing a wonderful place for people to relax. Even more romantically, the rose pavilion at the head of Zhigu Bridge forms a lighting cluster. The deep purple roses of the pavilion bring vitality to the Haihe riverside during the day. When night falls and the whole pavilion lights up, it creates a lighting cluster that looks like a glowing flower ball from a distance, truly beautiful.
Next, 24 dynamic mascots will be set up in the central square between Bajing Road and Shiyi Jing Road, which is also one of the new highlights of the night lighting on both banks of the Haihe River. In addition, meteor-shower-style lighting groups will be installed on the green belts surrounding the Haihe River, and a starry lighting carpet will be spread across the lawn. When the lights come on at night, viewed from a distance, it gives people a sense of the fleeting beauty of a meteor shower.

Energy conservation is the greatest wisdom
With the Haihe River lit up, the perfect combination of light and the city's tone has breathed new life into Tianjin, an old city with more than 600 years of history. While adorning the city with lighting, how to reduce energy consumption and effectively curb energy loss is also extremely important. Therefore, in designing the nightscape lighting, the city has fully taken into account the requirements of energy conservation and low-carbon principles. Advanced energy-saving technologies have been adopted for Tianjin's iconic nightscape lighting areas such as Jinwan Square, the Haihe Yongle Bridge, the Italian-style Area, Tianjin Station, and Friendship Road. LED energy-saving technology is used in the nightscape lighting layout, and through switching between different modes such as the regular mode and major festival mode, it achieves the effect of both showcasing Tianjin's nightscape lighting at the highest level and, on ordinary days, accommodating energy conservation and environmental protection.
At this forum, Song Zhongkui, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Energy Conservation Association, stated that green lighting is not only related to urban development, but more importantly involves two major subjects: resource utilization and environmental protection. Implementing green lighting is a systematic project that requires a multi-faceted approach. Developing and promoting high-efficiency lighting equipment and establishing a high-quality, efficient, economical, comfortable, safe and reliable lighting environment is imperative.
