National Museum Grand Opening — Huayi Wins "Light" for the Country
On March 1, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., the "Completion Ceremony of the Renovation and Expansion Project of the National Museum of China and Reopening Ceremony of the Basic Display of 'Road to Rejuvenation'" was grandly held in Beijing. National leaders including Li Changchun of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee attended the ceremony.
After 3 years of construction and an investment of 2.5 billion, the new National Museum has appeared before the world in an entirely new look. Following its renovation and expansion, the National Museum of China has a building area of nearly 200,000 square meters, surpassing world-famous museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the United States and the British Museum. The total exhibition area reaches 65,000 square meters, with 49 exhibition halls ranging from 800 to 2,000 square meters distributed throughout. The museum's collection totals 1.06 million pieces. It is the museum with the largest building area in the world to date.
The renovation and expansion project of the National Museum of China fully took into account the specific impression that the original building had formed in people's minds. Therefore, during the design phase, great attention was paid to consistency with the original architectural style — the west, north, and south sections of the old building were preserved, with expansion extending eastward. Following the renovation and expansion, the National Museum of China, with equal emphasis on history and art, has become a comprehensive museum integrating collection, exhibition, research, archaeology, public education, and cultural exchange.
In the construction of the National Museum of China, Huayi has also made its own unique contribution. According to the "Bid Winning Announcement for Lighting Supply of the Office Area of the Reconstruction and Expansion Project of the National Museum of China," Huayi became the sole winning bidder for office area lighting supply, which means that all the lighting in the office area of the National Museum comes from Huayi. Since the National Museum has extremely stringent requirements for lighting, the lighting supply of the National Museum has been dominated by top foreign enterprises since 2003. The entry of "Made by Huayi" into the National Museum is a great opening chapter for China's national lighting enterprises to truly become powerful and build their brands.
