Deepening Graphene Development, Tunghsu Optoelectronics Partners with Shanxi State-Owned Capital for Application Cooperation
Tunghsu Optoelectronics announced on the evening of May 14 that the company recently signed a "Strategic Cooperation Agreement" with Shanxi Energy and Transportation Investment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Shanxi Nengtou") and Shanxi Jianbang Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Shanxi Jianbang"). The three parties will jointly collaborate on areas such as graphene electric heating to replace bulk coal combustion heating in rural areas of Shanxi Province, graphene heat dissipation materials, graphene new materials industry incubation, and new energy vehicles.
Regarding the cooperation partners, Shanxi Nengtou is a wholly state-owned company established through a joint venture between Shanxi Province and the former Ministry of Railways for railway construction. It is a large state-owned backbone enterprise with railway operations, the new energy industry, and modern logistics as its core businesses. Founded in 1988, Shanxi Jianbang is an integrated steel enterprise encompassing various businesses including import and export trade, ironmaking, casting, and railway transportation.
According to the cooperation agreement, the three parties have a clear division of labor. Tunghsu Optoelectronics is responsible for promoting technology R&D, product development, and industrial operations; Shanxi Nengtou is responsible for coordinating government resources, integrating state-owned capital, and facilitating the implementation of production capacity; Shanxi Jianbang is responsible for integrating local industries and private capital in Shanxi Province.
The trilateral cooperation covers four aspects: graphene electric heating to replace bulk coal burning for heating, promotion of new graphene high-power LED lighting, graphene new material industry incubation, and new energy vehicles.
Tunghsu Optoelectronic introduced that graphene electric heating technology is a revolutionary new-generation heating technology. By leveraging graphene's superior electrical and thermal conductivity, it offers advantages incomparable to other heating methods and can be widely applied in northern rural areas to replace bulk coal burning for heating, serving as an important lever for addressing air pollution.
According to the cooperation agreement, the three parties will conduct in-depth cooperation in the field of graphene electric heating technology replacing bulk coal burning heating in rural areas of Shanxi Province. By introducing the PPP model, under the premise of reducing government debt and fiscal burden, ensuring farmers' heating comfort and affordability, and enabling enterprises to achieve reasonable profits, they will complete the rural electric heating renovation project across the entire Shanxi Province, thoroughly solving the air pollution problem caused by bulk raw coal burning in winter.
Regarding graphene new material industry incubation, the three parties will take graphene electric heating products as the entry point to build a graphene new material industry incubation park in Shanxi Province, establish the largest graphene electric heating product industrial base in the country, and at the same time, in conjunction with the new material development plan of Shanxi Province, gather a batch of graphene industrialization projects with advanced technical levels, high maturity, and good market acceptance, promoting the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries in Shanxi Province.
According to the agreement, the three parties will also conduct in-depth cooperation on the application of another star graphene product launched by Tunghsu Optoelectronic — the graphene high-power LED lighting module — in fields such as municipal street lamp renovation and industrial and mining enterprise lighting in Shanxi Province, using graphene new materials and advanced lighting technology to improve the lighting quality of public facilities, enhance energy-saving effects, and promote the application of high-tech achievements in urbanization construction.
In terms of new energy vehicles, the three parties will jointly establish a long-term stable cooperative relationship, focusing on the production of new energy buses and electric logistics vehicles, the construction of charging infrastructure, the promotion and operation of new energy vehicles, the R&D and manufacturing of complete vehicles and power batteries, and auto finance.
Analysts also said that for Dongxu Optoelectronics, this cooperation is a watershed. The implementation of Dongxu Optoelectronics' graphene industry is evolving from a single industry to a multi-industry cluster collaborative development. The grand strategy previously conceived by Dongxu Optoelectronics—spreading from point to area, from area to network, building Dongxu's graphene ecosystem—is being realized, which will open new doors for Dongxu's performance growth and future strategy.
In the past two years, Dongxu Optoelectronics has continuously followed the developments of the graphene industry at home and abroad, investigated a large number of graphene application enterprises as well as graphene projects with industrialization conditions and aligned with the company's development strategy, and actively participated through various means such as controlling and equity participation, greatly accelerating the pace of promoting the industrialization of graphene applications.
Just a few days ago, Dongxu Optoelectronics also announced that it plans to acquire a controlling stake in graphene application enterprise Mingshuo Technology for 80 million yuan, which is another breakthrough in a heavyweight graphene industrialization application project following last year's successful acquisition of Shanghai Carbon Source Huigu, which successfully laid out the industrialization application of graphene in lithium-ion batteries.
