MOEA Releases Industrial Production Statistics for March

　　The Ministry of Economic Affairs released the March industrial production statistics, with March at 103.92, an increase of 3.05% compared to the same period last year.

　　The MOEA analyzed that the manufacturing production growth rate has risen, mainly because market conditions in semiconductors, LEDs, solar energy, and optical components continue to heat up, and the stabilizing global economy is driving a recovery in machinery export orders.

　　From the LED perspective, LED lighting demand, driven by product price drops and favorable government policies, will enter a period of rapid growth. Currently, demand for replacing LED fixtures in emerging markets and the Chinese market is strong. Compared to the past, when the first quarter was traditionally the off-season, the LED revenue in the first quarter of 2014 can be said to be strong even during the off-season, and the second quarter will once again enter the traditional LED peak season. LED manufacturers are all optimistic in their outlook.

Industry insiders believe that the gradual improvement of luminous efficacy and the continuous decline in retail prices are driving rapid growth in demand for LED lighting applications. This market demand will first explode in the outdoor lighting sector. From 2013 to 2015 will be the global LED outdoor lighting replacement wave, with LED continuing to heat up.
