Guangyang Electric’s lighting technology has passed the scientific and technological achievement appraisal conducted by the China National Light Industry Council.

Recently, the China National Light Industry Council convened in Beijing a scientific and technological achievement appraisal meeting recommended by the China Lighting Fixture Association. The achievement is the “Integrated Far-Red Light Emission System Based on Phosphor-Converted Broadband-Spectrum LEDs and Myopia Prevention Technology”, jointly developed by five institutions: Hefei University of Technology, Guangdong Guangyang Electrical Appliance Co., Ltd., the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, the Institute of Resource Utilization and Rare Earth Development of the Guangdong Academy of Sciences, and Hongli Zhihui Group Co., Ltd.
The appraisal committee comprised Academician Liu Wenqing of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Vice Chairman Wang Xuhua of the China Lighting Fixture Association, former Chief Engineer Bian Shukui of the General Logistics Department’s Architectural Design Research Institute, Professor Niu Pingjuan of Tianjin University of Technology, General Manager Yang Yue of Shanghai Shidai Zhiguang Lighting Fixture Testing Co., Ltd., Professor Zhang Hua of Peking Union Medical College, and Professor Dai Qi of Fudan University’s Electric Light Source Research Institute. The appraisal meeting was chaired by Li Yang of the China National Light Industry Council.
The committee heard presentations on the project’s background, technological innovations, and overall performance indicators. Following data comparison, efficacy verification, and expert deliberations, the committee unanimously concluded that the “Integrated Far-Red Light Emission System Based on Phosphor-Converted Broadband-Spectrum LEDs and Myopia Prevention Technology” has successfully researched far-red light LED–based myopia prevention technology, overcoming key challenges such as material formulation, LED device packaging, and dual-function spectral integration. It has also developed an integrated far-red light emission device based on phosphor-converted broadband-spectrum LEDs, along with associated myopia prevention technology. The project has invented a lighting device that combines full-spectrum white illumination with far-red light–based myopia prevention, suitable for a range of applications including home healthcare, school classroom lighting, public space illumination, and hospital physiotherapy. The committee determined that the project’s overall technology has reached an internationally advanced level, with its far-red light phosphor materials and novel LED device packaging technologies being internationally leading.
In accordance with relevant national regulations, since 2016, the appraisal of scientific and technological achievements is no longer directly organized by government science and technology administrative departments; instead, it has been entrusted to industry associations, specialized institutions, and other third-party social organizations, which now exercise self-regulatory management. To further promote the application and commercialization of scientific and technological advances in the lighting sector and to refine the pathway for transitioning innovative results from the laboratory to the market, the China Lighting Fixture Association will collaborate with the China National Light Industry Council to provide standardized scientific and technological achievement appraisal services in the lighting fixture field, acting as an independent third party and adhering to the provisions of the “China National Light Industry Council Measures for the Appraisal of Scientific and Technological Achievements.”
