Association leaders attended the 2026 Second Forum on New-Generation Lighting Industry: Technological Innovation and Development.

On September 3, the “2026 Second Forum on Technological Innovation and Development of New‑Generation Lighting Productivity” was held in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. Wang Xuhua, Vice Chairman of the China Lighting Fixture Association, attended the event and delivered a speech. Deng Maolin, Deputy Secretary-General, and Liu Qian, General Manager of Beijing Electric Light Source Testing & Certification Co., Ltd., also participated. The forum was chaired by Wang Zhengtao, former Secretary-General of the Beijing Illumination Society. Leaders from the Party Committee of the Jiangxi LED Industry Chain, the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Jiangxi Semiconductor Lighting and Display Industry Association, and the Jiangxi Illumination Society, along with representatives from lighting companies nationwide and experts from research institutions and universities, were in attendance.

In his address, Vice Chairman Wang Xuhua of the China Lighting Fixture Association pointed out that this year marks the beginning of the 15th Five‑Year Plan period. At the national strategic level, priorities for the next five years have been clearly defined as high‑quality development and improvements in people’s livelihoods, providing clear direction and setting specific requirements for the lighting industry. This year’s forum, themed “AI Integration, Photonic Transformation, and a New Era Toward Carbon Neutrality and Health,” aims to foster exchanges and discussions that will be of great significance for guiding the lighting sector toward high‑quality transformation and upgrading over the next five years. Chairman Wang reviewed the remarkable achievements of the lighting industry during the 14th Five‑Year Plan: first, leading enterprises have played a pivotal role as stabilizing forces and trendsetters, continuously investing in technological innovation, overcoming industry bottlenecks, and driving standard upgrades; second, high‑quality small and medium‑sized enterprises have steadily grown—by the end of the 14th Five‑Year Plan, there were more than 300 nationally recognized “Little Giant” companies specializing in niche areas within the lighting supply chain, accounting for 1.6% of the national total and serving as a key pillar of the industry’s high‑quality development. Over these five years, with recommendations from the association, numerous enterprises and universities have had their technological breakthroughs in visual health, intelligent control, green design, non‑visual applications of light, automotive lighting, and other fields evaluated at provincial and ministerial levels, reaching internationally advanced standards and earning the China National Light Industry Federation’s Science and Technology Progress Award. Several products have also been included in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s Catalogue of Upgraded and Innovative Consumer Goods. At the same time, he highlighted ongoing challenges facing the industry, including insufficient economies of scale, excess low‑end production capacity, and intensifying price‑driven homogeneous competition. Moreover, disorderly competition often manifests itself through heavy marketing and light R&D, emphasizing concepts over fundamentals. As technologies converge, product functionalities evolve, and standards and regulations are upgraded, lighting products face new quality issues and heightened quality risks both domestically and internationally.

Chairman Wang emphasized that the lighting industry is currently at a critical juncture of transformation and upgrading, with trends toward greening, digitalization, intelligence, and health accelerating industry-wide change. He stated that the China Lighting Fixture Association will continue to work hand in hand with enterprises, research institutions, and technical service providers to build comprehensive platforms for innovation, standardization, market access, and talent development, fostering an open, collaborative industrial environment and jointly advancing the high‑quality development of China’s lighting appliance sector.

In her remarks, Liu Qian, General Manager of Beijing Electric Light Source Testing & Certification Co., Ltd., noted that we are now in a prime window for technological innovation and cross‑industry integration in the lighting sector. Cultivating new‑generation productivity has become an imperative, requiring the industry to focus on cutting‑edge source‑technology innovation, seize opportunities presented by digital transformation, deepen efforts in healthy lighting, firmly pursue a green and low‑carbon agenda, and expand the boundaries of industry development—strengthening and elevating the lighting sector through technological advancement and integrated growth.

Vice Chairman Wang Xuhua of the China Lighting Fixture Association chaired a roundtable discussion, inviting experts including Xie Yunsheng, Tian Zhen, Zhou Xiang, Lin Jiliang, and Wang Peng to engage in an in‑depth dialogue under the theme “Green Transformation and Technological Innovation Pathways for the Lighting Industry Under the ‘Dual Carbon’ Goals.” Participants exchanged views across multiple dimensions—including policy guidance, technological R&D, standard setting, and market application—leading to lively discussions that offered diverse perspectives for advancing the industry’s green transition and technological innovation.
