According to Standard Announcement No. 1 of 2026 issued by the China Education Equipment Industry Association, 11 group standards related to schools, primary and secondary school students, and children and adolescents have been officially released.
Among them, the group standard T/JYBZ 050—2026 “Technical Specification for Reading and Writing Luminaires for Children and Adolescents” was published on September 24, 2026, and came into effect on October 1, 2026.

This standard document specifies the technical requirements, inspection rules, as well as marking, packaging, transportation, and storage for luminaires used for reading and writing by children and adolescents with a supply voltage not exceeding 250V, and also describes the corresponding test methods.
This document applies to lighting fixtures used in home, school, library, laboratory, and similar learning environments, targeting children and adolescents who have high demands for healthy illumination, such as desk lamps (including clamp-on desk lamps), floor lamps (for whole-room or localized lighting), and fixed luminaires for localized study lighting (or other similar fixtures).
This document applies to AC-powered luminaires, as well as those equipped with charging devices or powered via USB interfaces. Luminaires intended for infants and young children may also refer to this standard.
This standard introduces numerous innovative differences compared to the national standard GB/T 9473 “Performance Requirements for Reading and Writing Desk Lamps,” for example:
The color temperature is no longer limited to 4000K; instead, in accordance with the color temperature requirements specified in the national standard GB 40070, the measured correlated color temperature of luminaires under reading and writing conditions should be no less than 3,300 K and no more than 5,300 K.
The initial value of the general color rendering index Ra must be no lower than 90, and it must meet at least three nominal values. The special color rendering index R9 should exceed 50. The color fidelity index should be no lower than 90. Both the flicker index and stroboscopic effect must not exceed 0.4.
Desk lamps and floor lamps used for localized lighting should possess light-shielding properties. For luminaires whose light-emitting surface is no higher than 750 mm above the desktop when in normal operating position, when a person is seated, the surface luminance of all illuminated components observed by the human eye should be no greater than 2,000 cd/m². Floor lamps for whole-room lighting and fixed luminaires for localized study lighting, when all light sources are turned on, should maintain an average luminance of no more than 4,500 cd/m² at angles of 65°, 75°, and 85°.
In both normal operation and standby states, the measured noise level should not exceed 23 dB(A). For visual comfort (VICO), suitable for luminaires used with visual display terminals, the product specification sheet (manual) should specify that the visual comfort rating within the working range or setting should be less than 2.0.
For luminaires marketed as smart, they must at least feature one of the following functions: seat-sensing, delayed shut-off, or timed reminders. For dimmable/color-adjustable luminaires, they should provide a convenient method for entering reading and writing mode. Note: A convenient operation method refers to default settings upon startup, dedicated control buttons, or other operations that can be completed with a single step.
For dimmable/color-adjustable luminaires, if the control button is positioned more than 500 mm vertically from the work surface, they should have non-contact control functionality (including but not limited to apps, remote controls, etc.).
