Breaking News: The State Administration has issued an official notice—CCC certificates of several well-known lighting companies have been revoked.

On August 7, the State Administration for Market Regulation officially issued Official Notice No. Guoshi Jian Ren Zheng Fa [2026] 101—“Notice of the State Administration for Market Regulation on the Results of the 2025 Annual Random Inspection of Certification Validity (for Products Included in the Compulsory Product Certification Catalog).”

The notice states that the Administration conducted random inspections of certification validity for 2,483 batches of products across 39 categories in the compulsory product certification field—including electric fans, toys, heavy-duty vehicles, wires and cables, and lighting fixtures—with a coverage rate of 41.18% among certification bodies. This inspection is arguably the most extensive specialized oversight of certification validity in recent years.

In accordance with relevant regulations, certification bodies have revoked a total of 764 CCC certificates for certified manufacturers and products found to be non-compliant.

Among these, 28 certified companies in the lighting sector had their certificates revoked, including several well-known domestic LED lighting brands as well as small and medium-sized enterprises. The affected products spanned all mainstream commercial and residential LED categories: recessed LED luminaires, LED downlights, LED track spotlights, portable LED desk lamps, fixed LED panel lights, LED ceiling lights, warehouse and industrial lighting, and more.

The following issues were frequently identified in the lighting category during this inspection—long-standing, industry-wide vulnerabilities:

• Wire gauges for internal and external wiring fail to meet standards, and wiring designs contain defects, posing significant risks of cable overheating, fire, and electric shock.

• Protection against electric shock, insulation, creepage distances, and electrical clearances do not comply with national safety standards for lighting fixtures.

• Product structure, grounding requirements, and dust‑ and water‑proof ratings fall short of the registered certification criteria.

• Missing or improperly labeled markings and specifications.

• Excessive levels of harmonic currents, insulation resistance, contact currents, and other electromagnetic and safety parameters.

The State Administration for Market Regulation stated that, pursuant to applicable regulations, for products found to be seriously non‑compliant during the inspection and whose certification has been revoked (see attachment), certification bodies will refuse to accept any new certification applications for those products within six months.

CCC compulsory certification represents the minimum safety threshold for lighting products entering the market. More importantly, obtaining a CCC certificate is not the end of the process; it marks the beginning of an ongoing test of post‑certification compliance. Subsequent factory inspections, post‑certification supervision, and random validity checks have become routine. This nationwide, large‑scale revocation of certificates sends a clear regulatory signal: the era of lax quality control has come to a definitive close. All lighting manufacturers, distributors, and engineering firms are advised to proactively conduct internal compliance self‑assessments, embed CCC standards into their product development, and operate in full compliance.
