LideDa’s agreement with Current stems from GE’s KSF powder-based general lighting patent license.

On September 15, 2026, Dongguan Lide Da Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. (LEDESTAR) and Current Chemicals held a patent licensing signing ceremony for KSF (K₂SiF₆:Mn⁴⁺, potassium hexafluorosilicate: manganese) narrow-band red phosphor, officially announcing this strategic collaboration. After multiple rounds of business negotiations, the patent licensing agreement took effect on September 13, 2024, with LEDESTAR obtaining global authorization for this patent portfolio in the general lighting sector.

As a core material technology in the high-end lighting field, KSF powder technology originates from GE’s cutting-edge R&D efforts many years ago. Following the spin-off of GE’s lighting business, Current Chemicals assumed responsibility for licensing this technology for general lighting applications and for manufacturing related materials. Leveraging this authorization, LEDESTAR has successfully implemented KSF phosphor technology, enabling the production of next-generation high-CRI LED light sources, thereby securing a key intellectual property asset and formally entering the global high-end market.

Conventional white LEDs typically suffer from deficiencies in the red spectrum and low R9 saturation values, limiting their color‑rendering capabilities. In contrast, KSF narrow-band red phosphor, with its unique spectral characteristics, delivers exceptionally high CRI and outstanding R9 saturation, restoring true colors while maintaining high luminous efficacy—addressing the longstanding industry challenge that “high color rendering inevitably sacrifices efficiency.”

This technological solution boasts excellent color stability and remarkable lumen maintenance, making it ideal for diverse applications demanding precise color reproduction: museum exhibit lighting, upscale hotel spaces, brand‑name retail displays, luxury goods showrooms, and high‑end residential interiors. It faithfully reproduces the authentic texture and nuanced coloration of objects, providing end users with a premium lighting experience.

The signing ceremony marks the official public announcement of the two companies’ long-term intellectual property partnership. With LEDESTAR now licensed to use Current’s KSF patents for general lighting, the company has completed its critical patent roadmap in the high-end lighting segment. Supported by a compliant patent framework, LEDESTAR can reliably supply domestic and international customers with high-CRI LED components backed by comprehensive intellectual property protection, effectively mitigating KSF‑related IP risks and removing patent barriers for products seeking global markets, thus helping Chinese high‑end lighting components gain traction worldwide.
