The first China (Jiangmen) Green (Semiconductor) Light Source International Expo (hereinafter referred to as the "Optoelectronics Expo") grandly opened on the morning of the 28th at the Jiangmen Wuyi Overseas Chinese Plaza Conference and Exhibition Center. 　　This edition of the "Light Expo" is guided by the Electronic Information Department and the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and jointly hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Economic and Information Commission, the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and the Jiangmen Municipal People's Government. The exhibition will last 3 days, with the theme of green energy-saving, comprehensively showcasing the development level of the entire industrial chain of China's green light source industry. It is expected to attract 20,000 visitors.

　　At the opening ceremony, Jiangmen Mayor Liu Hai delivered an enthusiastic speech. He said that in recent years, Jiangmen has vigorously developed strategic emerging industries, committed to building new energy and new materials industries, especially taking LED as a breakthrough, and has successively introduced the most preferential LED industry development policies in the province and even the entire country—rewarding each set of MOCVD equipment invested in the Jiangmen High-tech Zone with 8 to 12 million yuan; from this year, for two consecutive years, 150 million yuan in special funds will be arranged each year to support investment preferences for LED packaging application projects, scientific and technological innovation awards, brand standards and patent awards, market development awards, talent awards, etc. At present, the construction of the LED Industrial Park and Trading Center in Jiangmen is also in full swing.

　　Liu Hai stated that it is precisely by firmly grasping the key points of industrial development that Jiangmen, although not the earliest city in Guangdong Province to develop the LED industry, has seized a place in the national LED industry with the rapid momentum of a latecomer taking the lead, becoming the Jiangmen Semiconductor Lighting Industry Base of the National Torch Program.

　　At present, more than 100 enterprises in Jiangmen are engaged in the production of green (semiconductor) light sources, gathering numerous well-known LED enterprises at home and abroad, and forming a complete industrial chain. It is the only prefecture-level city in the country that can achieve complete matching of various LED components and materials within a single city. Last year, Jiangmen's green (semiconductor) light source output value reached 13.698 billion yuan, accounting for about one-sixth of the entire Guangdong Province, with growth exceeding 40%. Within the next 10 years, the total output value of Jiangmen's LED industry is expected to exceed 100 billion yuan in scale.

LED has remarkable features such as high efficiency, energy saving, environmental protection, and long lifespan.
