"Wuxi Optoelectronic New Materials Science Park" Approved, Targeting to Become Jiangsu's "Optics Valley"

　　Recently, Beitang District in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, officially received approval to build the "Wuxi Optoelectronic New Materials Science Park". Covering 3.7 million square meters, the park aims directly at becoming Jiangsu's "Optics Valley", striving to build the most dazzling optoelectronic materials cluster in Jiangsu and even across the Yangtze River Delta region.

　　Beitang District's foray into the LED industry is supported by two major platforms: one is the Beichuang Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Park — a platform where startup tech companies conduct R&D and transform scientific achievements — and the other is the Jinshanbei Science and Technology Industrial Park, a base providing large-scale industrialized production for high-tech projects. The establishment of the Optoelectronic New Materials Science Park will help the two parks achieve complementary cooperation.

　　At the end of 2009, Jiangsu Yuanliang Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd. registered at the Beichuang Science and Technology Park, independently developed and produced synthetic sapphire crystal materials and equipment, and launched large-scale production at the Jinshanbei Science and Technology Industrial Park in February 2010, achieving sales of more than RMB 40 million that year. Currently, "Yuanliang Technology" has become the first domestic enterprise capable of producing large-size synthetic sapphire crystals and equipment, quickly capturing the domestic market while also exporting its products overseas.

　　Currently, more than 20 photoelectric new materials and related supporting industrial projects have gathered in the entire district, of which 10 projects have entered the industrialized production stage. In 1Q11, "Yuanliang Technology" has achieved sales of more than 50 million yuan, exceeding the entire year of 2010. The person in charge of the park said that the goal of Wuxi Photoelectric New Materials Science and Technology Park is aimed directly at Jiangsu's "Optics Valley," and is committed to building the most dazzling photoelectric materials cluster in Jiangsu and even the Yangtze River Delta region, striving to achieve sales revenue of 30 billion yuan and profits and taxes of 1 billion yuan in five years.

　　At the same time, the park also plans to introduce scientific research institutions such as the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University, to establish national key photoelectric technology laboratories, national engineering research centers for laser optoelectronics, etc., providing "intellectual" support for the sustainable development of enterprises.
