LED lighting fixtures replacing traditional lighting becomes an inevitable trend
As more and more enterprises begin to enter the field of LED lighting and invest heavily in development, a vigorous wave of LED lighting fixtures has rapidly swept the Chinese lighting industry within a few years, causing great excitement wherever it goes. Traditional lighting industry enterprises, under pressure from the outside, have also entered the LED lighting market one after another, beginning to explore the path of enterprise transformation.
As is well known, the energy utilization efficiency of traditional light sources is relatively low, and there is not much room for technological improvement. Moreover, there are many traditional lighting enterprises in our country, and competition is fierce. To gain market share, "price wars" are very serious. Existing traditional lighting enterprises, besides winning the market through their brands, have very little added value in their products themselves. Although China is a major producer and exporter of lighting products, many traditional lighting enterprises are mostly engaged in OEM manufacturing, with profit margins generally only a few points, while the advantages of local brands are not very obvious.
With the development of "hard indicators" centered on various technologies and performances of LED lighting fixtures, the requirements in some lighting fields have been gradually met. Its "soft" applications centered on energy conservation and environmental protection are also receiving increasing attention. The widespread application of LED lighting also meets the requirements of the government's promotion of energy conservation and emission reduction actions. At present, governments of all countries are actively eliminating low-efficiency lighting products. The European Union has completely banned the import or production of traditional incandescent lamps, and our country has also begun to promote energy-saving products on a large scale and eliminate low-efficiency products. Taking all factors into consideration, enterprises have also realized that focusing on the development of traditional lighting can no longer meet the development requirements of enterprises in the new situation, so they have begun to transform to LED.
At the beginning of 2010, industry-related organizations conducted a survey and forecast on the timeline of LED lighting fixtures replacing traditional lighting. The survey results showed that industry professionals are quite optimistic about the progress of LED replacing traditional lighting. Most of them believe that within 3 years, LED lighting fixtures could replace 20% of traditional lighting, within 3-5 years it could reach 50%, and after 10 years it may reach 80%. According to the latest forecast by J.P. Morgan, semiconductor lighting sources will occupy 50% of the global market share by 2014, and semiconductor lighting fixtures will occupy 50% of the market share by 2016. Regarding the rapidly developing domestic LED indoor lighting market, the survey results also show that most industry professionals believe that the market share of LED indoor lighting products may reach 50% by 2020. Therefore, experts predict that the next 10 years will see the LED lighting market gradually mature, and these will be the most critical 10 years for the success or failure of the transformation from traditional lighting to LED lighting fixtures.
It can be seen that there is not much time left for traditional lighting enterprises to transform and upgrade. Many traditional lighting enterprises, while firmly holding their original territories, have also come to realize the necessity of developing LED lighting fixture projects, and have begun to invest in LED development and application, exploring the path of enterprise transformation. However, most traditional lighting enterprises are still in the early investment stage of LED. From the "2010 China (Shanghai) International Hotel and Architectural Lighting Exhibition" held at the end of March 2010, the Frankfurt Lighting Exhibition held in Germany in April, and the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition held in June, we can see that LED lighting fixture products have gradually become the protagonists of the exhibitions. Whether traditional lighting enterprises or LED lighting enterprises, almost all of them have placed LED lighting products in prominent positions at their booths, with more and more varieties and functions.
