Cree LED new product launch held in Shanghai

On the afternoon of March 8, 2011, Cree, the market leader in the LED lighting field, released its 2011 Cree LED new products at its Shanghai office, unveiling a series of newly developed LED lighting products. Based on Cree's strong global R&D capabilities and continuing its tradition of strong innovation, the newly released products achieve unprecedented performance for LED lighting applications. China Light Network, as a representative of professional media in the lighting industry, was invited to attend the press conference and provided full coverage of the event.

　　At the press conference, Dr. Shao Jiaping introduced and showcased to professional media the products that Cree launched in the Chinese market in 2011, including the industry's leading XLamp® MT-G LED, XLamp® XM-L LED, XLamp® XP-E HEW LED, XLamp® ML-E LED, XLamp® ML-B LED, and XLamp® CXA20 LED, among other new LED products. 　　As the industry's first product tested at 85°C, the XLamp® MT-G LED delivers up to 560 lm of luminous flux at a drive current of 1.1 A, and up to 1525 lm of luminous flux at a drive current of 4 A. This innovative LED meets the miniaturization and high-lumen demands of 35-to-50-watt halogen replacement lamps, and can be used in lighting applications such as retail stores, residential settings, museums, galleries, hotels, and landscape installations — making it the first commercialized LED product capable of delivering sufficient light output for these applications.

Cree XLamp® MT-G LED

　　The XLamp® XM-L LED delivers unrivaled high performance across a wide range of drive currents. Its launch set new records for light output and high luminous efficacy in LED lighting. The cool-white XM-L LED was already released in April 2010; this new single-chip LED delivers a record-breaking luminous efficacy of 160 lm/W at a drive current of 350 mA, while achieving an industry-leading thermal resistance of 2 °C/W. At a drive current of 350 mA, the warm-white (3000 K) XLamp XM-L LED achieves an efficacy of up to 117 lm/W, and the neutral-white (4000 K) XM-L LED achieves an efficacy of up to 138 lm/W. With its extremely high lumen density, this LED simplifies design and lowers manufacturing costs for lighting manufacturers in directional lighting applications — including high-bay luminaires, parking-lot lighting, roadway lighting, portable floodlighting, spotlights, and LED replacement lamps — while helping manufacturers easily control light output and minimize light waste and light pollution. Cree is currently the only manufacturer in the world capable of mass-producing warm-white and neutral-white LEDs of such high performance.

Cree XLamp® XM-L LED

　　The XLamp® XP-E HEW LED builds on the high light output and efficacy of the award-winning XLamp XP-E LED family, enabling lighting designs to use half the LEDs. This helps luminaire and lamp manufacturers lower costs while maintaining excellent system performance. For LED replacement lamps and downlight applications, the optimized XP-E HEW LED reduces initial cost. An A-19 lamp based on XP-E LEDs redesigned with XP-E HEW LEDs not only uses half the number of LEDs, but also delivers the same outstanding efficacy. Driven at 350 mA, the XLamp XP-E HEW LED delivers light output of 148 lm and 114 lm in cool white (6500 K) and warm white (3000 K), respectively. In addition to improved light output and efficacy, the XP-E HEW LED features a thermal resistance as low as 6 °C/W. The XLamp XP-E HEW LED is the first high-power LED to use Cree's newest Direct Attach LED technology. Direct Attach is Cree's next-generation, proprietary LED chip technology that delivers higher brightness, lower forward voltage, and lower thermal resistance.

Cree XLamp® XP-E HEW LED

　　The XLamp® ML-E LED is a lighting-class LED designed for the half-watt LED market, providing lighting designers with a compact, cost-effective distributed LED array solution that fully meets the stringent performance standards of the U.S. EPA ENERGY STAR. The XLamp ML-E delivers lighting-class performance for applications requiring uniform, soft tones, providing a luminous flux of up to 58 lm in cool white (5000 K) and up to 48 lm in warm white (3000 K) at a 150 mA drive current, with tightly controlled color spatial uniformity and a 120-degree viewing angle, meeting the lighting needs of LED fluorescent tube replacements, ceiling lights, cabinet lights, and more.

　　The XLamp® ML-B LED operates at one-quarter watt, expanding the broadest portfolio of lighting-class LED products and extending lighting-class performance to distributed applications where the light source is visible. Driven at 80 mA, it delivers light output of up to 30 lm in cool white (5000 K) and up to 24 lm in warm white (3000 K), with tightly controlled color spatial uniformity and a 120-degree viewing angle. It is suitable for panel lights and LED-based fluorescent tube replacement products, achieving a perfect balance of light output, package size, efficacy, and value for direct-lighting fixtures.

Cree XLamp® ML-E/ML-B LED

　　The XLamp® CXA20 LED Array is the first product in the lighting-class array family, designed to accelerate the LED lighting revolution. The CXA20 LED features a single uniform optical system, a compact 22 mm x 22 mm package, and can be secured with just two screws, helping customers who need a single device in their light source designs streamline their manufacturing processes. When used in traditional downlight applications, CXA20-based luminaires produce 38% more brightness than a 26 W compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) or a 100 W incandescent bulb, while consuming only 14 W of input power. For lighting fixture manufacturers seeking Cree's lighting-class performance and simplified indoor LED lighting design and manufacturing, the CXA Series LED Arrays are the ideal choice.

Cree XLamp® CXA20 LED
