The press conference combined relevant national policies, industry conditions, and the local industry characteristics of Shenzhen to explain the LED industry development trends in Shenzhen for 2011. The organizers of the "China LED Expo," namely China Electronics Corporation and the Shenzhen LED Industry Federation, provided a detailed introduction to the relevant situation of this exhibition as well as the exciting related supporting activities. The core of this exhibition is "forecasting industry trends and guiding industry development."

2010 is called "Year One of LED" by the industry. As a green, energy-saving and environmentally friendly technology, LED has broad development prospects. The State Council proposed to develop LED as a new material technology into a leading industry of the national economy. According to the preliminary plan, by 2015, the scale of China's LED industry will reach RMB 500 billion, with a compound annual growth rate of 42%. The upcoming "12th Five-Year Plan" period will be 5 years of rapid development for the LED industry.

What will be the industry development trend in 2011? What industrial support policies will the Shenzhen municipal government, which occupies half of the LED industry, provide? What kind of market opportunities will enterprises have? These are all hot topics of great concern within the industry.

The State Council has proposed developing LED as a new material technology into a leading industry of the national economy. According to the initial plan, by 2015, China's LED industry scale will reach RMB 500 billion, with a compound annual growth rate of 42%. The upcoming "12th Five-Year Plan" period will be five years of rapid development for the LED industry.

From April 8-10, 2011, the China LED Exhibition with the theme "Green Lighting, Green World" will be held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. The organizers, China Electronics Appliances Corporation and the Shenzhen LED Industry Federation, recently held a press conference to announce the official launch of the first professional LED exhibition in South China, and have designated April each year as "Shenzhen LED Promotion Month" to help citizens understand and learn about LED products.

The Guangdong provincial government has listed LED as one of the three strategic emerging industries, providing 500 million yuan annually to support industry development. Enterprises in Guangdong Province are showing a flourishing growth trend, with the industry's average growth rate reaching as high as 80% in 2011 and sales scale exceeding 80 billion. The organizing committee stated at the press conference that, taking advantage of the "spring" of Guangdong's LED industry development, this exhibition will bring together industry authorities, government, associations and enterprises with multiple resources to "power up" the China LED Exhibition, striving to create the most professional, authoritative and international LED industry event.

It is understood that in 2010, with mid-stream packaging companies driving the full efforts of upstream chip epitaxy companies and downstream application companies, epitaxial chip companies such as CREE, Xurui, Neo-Neon and Jingke have successively increased their investment in the Pearl River Delta region, packaging companies such as Nationstar Optoelectronics and Leman Optoelectronics have entered the capital market, and companies such as Foxconn and NVC Lighting have thrived in the application field.

"This exhibition aims to carry out a display of the entire industry chain, fully utilizing the two major market platforms at home and abroad to create a leading exhibition of the LED industry, making the China LED Exhibition a business card for the LED industry in Guangdong and even China," said Wang Dianfu, President of the Shenzhen LED Industry Federation.

It is reported that the China LED Exhibition, China Electronics Exhibition, and China Consumer Electronics Exhibition are being held simultaneously, with a combined total area of 80,000 square meters. Together they form a one-stop trading and procurement platform covering LED chips, LED packaging, LED equipment, LED lighting, LED displays, and LED backlights. The events attract 80,000 professional visitors from 130 countries and regions, with government delegations and buyer groups from more than ten countries and regions, including India and South Korea, set to attend.

"Booth reservations are currently in extremely high demand. Companies including Epistar, Wanrun, Jinjijia, Bangbeier, Huaye, Aisuojia, Maidi, and Rishang have already confirmed their participation in the LED Exhibition," said Chen Wenhai, Deputy General Manager of China Electronics Appliance Corporation. He believes that "industry-focused events such as the China LED Summit Forum, which brings together leading marketing and technology professionals; the China Polaris Lighting Product Design Competition, which offers consumers a visual feast; and the China LED Bidding and Procurement Conference, which gathers domestic and international buyers, will offer exhibitors, purchasers, and visitors the opportunity to share in the grand feast of China's LED industry."

The organizing committee also revealed that the China LED Exhibition will collaborate with the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Transport, and provincial and municipal transport commissions to host multiple events. Street lighting bureaus from across the country will be invited to attend, promoting the application of LED streetlights, LED screens, signal lights, and other products in the transportation sector; in addition, partnerships will be established with housing and urban-rural development authorities to advance LEDs into the indoor lighting market.

In order to encourage the general public to embrace low-carbon living, the LED Exhibition organizing committee has designated April as the "Shenzhen LED Promotion and Display Month," using on-site displays and hands-on experiences to promote LED products to citizens. During the exhibition, visitors will be invited to enter the venue, get up close with LED technology, and experience an LED-driven low-carbon and environmentally friendly lifestyle, helping LED products reach every household sooner. The aim is to encourage the public to adopt LEDs at the earliest opportunity, experience the low-carbon and eco-friendly benefits of LEDs in the small details of daily life, and stimulate the launch of the domestic LED lighting market while expanding internal demand.
