On September 24, the 30th Zhejiang Lighting Industry Supply Chain Conference 2026, themed “AI Empowerment, Smart Innovation, and High-Quality Development,” along with the Second Session of the 7th Council Meeting of the Zhejiang Provincial Lighting Electrical Appliances Association, was successfully held in Hangzhou. The event brought together leaders from relevant government departments, industry experts, and representatives from upstream and downstream enterprises across the Industry / Supply chain, jointly exploring new pathways for breakthrough growth in Zhejiang’s lighting sector by addressing key issues such as compliance, AI-driven innovation, stock renewal, and emerging overseas markets. Shen Wei, Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Lighting Electrical Appliances Association, and Zhou Jinbang, Deputy Director of the Consumer Goods and Historical Classic Industries Division of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, delivered opening remarks, while Zhang Yuan, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the association, chaired the meeting. Deng Maolin, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Lighting Electrical Appliances Association, attended and addressed the gathering.

In his address, Deng Maolin provided an in-depth overview of the current state of the industry. Citing detailed data, he noted that the lighting sector is currently navigating a complex phase characterized by the overlapping of three critical periods: structural adjustment pains, pivotal transformation and upgrading, and opportunities for innovative breakthroughs. In the first half of 2026, although the industrial value-added of large-scale lighting enterprises nationwide increased by 2% year-on-year (YoY), profits declined nearly 20% YoY, highlighting a clear trend of “revenue growth without profit growth.” From January to August, export value reached approximately US$33.2 billion, down about 3% YoY; however, luminaire exports surged 14% in August alone, signaling positive marginal improvements. Deng Maolin emphasized that, in response to this situation, companies must focus on three key areas to break the impasse:

First, uphold the quality baseline, standardize market order, and resolutely resist cutthroat price competition; Second, seize the green, low-carbon, and smart-health dividends, aligning closely with the national “15th Five-Year Plan” for light industry and textiles, and advancing technologies such as AI-driven design and 3D printing; Third, proactively engage with policy-driven opportunities, capitalizing on urban renewal initiatives and the development of high-quality housing environments, thereby shifting business models from simply “selling products” toward delivering comprehensive Solutions and O&M services. He added that the China Lighting Electrical Appliances Association will continue to serve as a bridge, establishing platforms for research and policy recommendations, standard-setting, and trade show coordination, guiding enterprises out of the quagmire of low-price competition and into a new stage of high-quality development.

The discussions remained firmly aligned with the conference theme, offering rich case studies and valuable lessons for fostering collaboration within the lighting electrical appliances supply chain and driving its transition toward higher quality.
