ams OSRAM reaches settlement with the company over LED-related patent disputes
On February 16, ams OSRAM (SIX: AMS) announced that it has reached a settlement with Shenzhen Meizhi Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Meizhi Optoelectronics") regarding pending LED patent disputes in the US and German markets.
This settlement resolves litigation proceedings in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the Regional Court of Düsseldorf in Germany. ams OSRAM had previously filed lawsuits in these courts, asserting its multiple patents held in the US and German markets concerning LED components used in horticultural lighting systems.
The parties have agreed on reasonable commercial terms, which include Meizhi Optoelectronics purchasing horticultural lighting LED devices from ams OSRAM.Although the detailed terms of the settlement agreement have not been disclosed, both parties expressed satisfaction with the outcome.

It is reported that in 2025, the company filed multiple lawsuits regarding the unauthorized use of its proprietary LED technology in horticultural lighting systems.
