Promoting Quality Improvement and Upgrading of Lighting Consumption | The 2nd "Value of Light" Forum Held in Linyi

On December 19, the "2nd 'Value of Light' Forum – Light and Human Settlement Environment Design & National Lighting Consumer Market Quality Improvement and Upgrading Lecture Hall" was held in Linyi, Shandong,with more than 220 representatives from lighting manufacturing enterprises, industry associations, designers, dealers, and faculty and students from colleges and universities across the country attending the event.The conference was hosted by the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI), with co-organization by the Market Circulation and Service Professional Committee of CALI, the Talent Training Work Committee of CALI, and the Landscape Lighting Professional Committee of CALI. Wang Xuhua, Vice Chairman of the National Technical Committee on Standardization of Lighting Appliances and Advisor to the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI); Wang Dongming, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Interior Decoration Association and Deputy Director of the Environmental Art Design Professional Committee of the Ministry of Education's Vocational College Art and Design Teaching Steering Committee; and Nie Qingdong, Director of the Market Circulation and Service Professional Committee of CALI, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

In his opening address at the 2nd "Value of Light" Forum, Wang Xuhua, Advisor to the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI), stated that China's economy is currently stable and improving, with expanding domestic demand and boosting consumption becoming key national priorities. The relevant implementation plans jointly issued by six ministries have pointed out the direction for the development of the lighting industry. As a livelihood-related industry closely tied to people's well-being, the lighting industry is transitioning from functional demands of "having light" and "being bright enough" to experiential demands for health, comfort, and warmth. Light has become an important expression of life experience and spatial value. Wang Xuhua pointed out that expanding lighting consumption requires balancing quantity and quality. Through scientific and professional light design, integrating products into human settlements, commercial spaces, and urban public spaces can not only enhance spatial quality but also unleash consumption potential. In recent years, the association has continuously promoted the industry's shift from single-product competition to system services, building a platform for collaborative cooperation. This forum focuses on light and health, human settlement environment design, and the application of new technologies, responding to national policy requirements. It aims to build industry consensus and promote the development of lighting consumption towards scenario-based, intelligent, and green directions. He hopes to take this event as an opportunity to explore effective paths for quality improvement and upgrading of lighting consumption, combining local industry and market characteristics, and provide replicable and promotable experience for the development of the national lighting domestic trade market.

In his address, Wang Dongming, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Interior Decoration Association, stated that light is not only a physical lighting tool but also an emotional carrier and the soul of spatial aesthetics. The forum's theme, "Light and Human Settlement Environment Design," echoes the shift in people's living experience from "meeting functional needs" to "nourishing body and mind," and also marks the transition of the lighting and interior decoration industries from "fighting separately" to "collaborative co-creation." Wang Dongming pointed out that the interior decoration industry is entering a period of deep adjustment, with the growth model shifting from new housing increments to stock renewal and value enhancement, and the focus of competition shifting to managing user mindset. Under the strategic background of building a "people's city," the industry presents four major trends: dimensional upgrade of demand, deepening of connotation, technological empowerment, and ecological synergy. Users pursue the overall implementation of lifestyle, and the industry needs to provide cross-domain overall space solutions, where light plays a key role. He emphasized that the two industries should build a "community of shared destiny," and in the future, they can deepen cooperation in areas such as joint standard setting, talent cultivation, topic research, and consumption advocacy, promoting the integration of light environment design and interior decoration from "addition" to "fusion," jointly creating healthy, comfortable, and smart high-quality living spaces.

Wang Zhuo, Secretary-General of the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI), delivered a keynote speech on "Enhancing Light Value and Improving the Match between Lighting Supply and Demand." In her report, she analyzed the changes and development trends facing the current industry. She stated that under the goal of high-quality development, the industry is undergoing changes in concepts, demands, and policies, and new growth points such as healthy lighting urgently need to be unleashed. By interpreting a series of policy documents recently issued by the state, she pointed out that consumption upgrades should lead industrial upgrades, and high-quality supply should better meet diversified demands. We should actively support enterprises in expanding the supply of distinctive high-quality consumer goods, and while stabilizing the export market, accelerate the construction of a high-quality domestic demand market. The association will also closely follow policy guidance, strengthen technological leadership and standardization coordination, organize brand activities such as thematic forums and professional talent training for the construction of the domestic trade market, reshape light value, and explore new demands.

Nie Qingdong stated that light is not only the fundamental energy of life but also the core driving force for industrial upgrading. The lighting industry is currently accelerating its transformation towards health, intelligence, and greenness, with its value far exceeding basic lighting and deeply integrating into diverse scenarios. The holding of this forum in Linyi is an recognition of the local lighting consumer market, and it will rely on the Linyi China Decorative Lighting City to build a platform for industry exchange and resource docking. He expects industry elites to focus on core issues, share technologies and experiences, unleash the multiple values of light, promote high-quality and sustainable development of the lighting industry, and empower industrial upgrading and people's well-being.

This forum, focusing on the perspective of "Light and Human Settlement Environment Design," invited more than 10 industry experts for thematic exchanges. Attendees shared new concepts and introduced new technologies from four aspects: light and health, light and space, light and design, and light and new technologies, jointly exploring new measures and practices for improving and upgrading the domestic lighting trade market, and building a new platform to better guide consumers to understand the value of light.

Among them, in the "Light and Health" section, Zheng Zhong, head of the Healthy Lighting Division of Beijing Yuji Technology Development Co., Ltd., delivered a speech titled "Sleep-Aiding Lighting: New Business Opportunities for Quality Improvement and Upgrading." He systematically presented a complete "Sleep-Aiding Lighting Solution," emphasizing spectral design from a non-visual perspective, with a core focus on key indicators such as m-DER and m-EDI. The sleep-aiding lighting solution he shared covers circadian lighting for all scenarios, including daytime awakening, afternoon work, and pre-sleep assistance, reducing the impact of light on melatonin secretion through precise control of color temperature, illuminance, and blue light ratio, thereby balancing visual comfort and healthy sleep needs. His speech not only revealed the deep connection between lighting and sleep health but also provided a new direction for the quality improvement and upgrading of the lighting consumer market.

In the "Light and Space" section, Gao Ying, Product Manager at Zhuosheng Lighting, shared the systematic implementation path of smart lighting under the title "Digital Intelligence Drive, Breaking Scenario Boundaries." The speech focused on demonstrating how its intelligent management platforms, such as Sympholink, use data-driven approaches to deeply integrate lighting control with building management systems, achieving flexible expansion and refined control from single offices to cross-city projects. Through multi-scenario cases such as offices, garages, and factories, Gao Ying explained how means such as smart sensing, circadian adjustment, and centralized operation and maintenance can significantly achieve energy saving and consumption reduction and improve operation and maintenance efficiency while enhancing the comfort of the light environment and user experience, reflecting the core value of smart lighting in empowering smart buildings and achieving sustainable development.

In the "Light and New Technologies" session, Li Yiping, Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Feiyetai Electronics Co., Ltd., delivered a speech on "New Solutions for Low-Carbon Healthy Industrial Lighting." He highlighted Feiyetai's high-efficacy, long-life LED products launched in the industrial lighting sector, such as high-bay lights, street lights, and T8 tubes, leveraging its full industry chain advantages.
