III. The African market continues to show growth momentum

In recent years, China's lighting industry has actively expanded into emerging markets such as Africa, mitigating trade risks in some regions. However, due to factors such as fluctuations in the international trade situation and adjustments in the global supply chain structure, the development of some markets has also slowed down.

  • In the first 10 months, the export value of lighting products to Africa was about USD 2.7 billion, a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 5%, maintaining the growth trend since May this year; this accounted for about 7% of China's total lighting product exports, an increase of 1 percentage point compared to the same period last year. Among them, the export value of electric light source products was about USD 300 million, a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 3%; the export value of luminaire products was about USD 1.9 billion, a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 4%; the export value of non-major products such as automotive lamps was about USD 500 million, a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 17%.

  • From January to October, the export value of lighting products to ASEAN was approximately 6.5 billion USD, a year-on-year (YoY) decrease of 5.5%; this accounted for about 16% of China's total lighting product exports, an increase of 1 percentage point compared to the same period last year. Among them, the export value of electric light sources was approximately 700 million USD, a year-on-year (YoY) decrease of 1.5%; the export value of luminaires was approximately 5.1 billion USD, a year-on-year (YoY) decrease of 6%; the export value of non-major products such as vehicle lamps was approximately 700 million USD, a year-on-year (YoY) decrease of 6%.

IV. Export Situation of Major Products

From January to October, the total export value of electric light source products was approximately 4.6 billion USD, a year-on-year (YoY) decrease of 11%. The export volume of China's electric light source products was approximately 19.9 billion units, a year-on-year (YoY) increase of 9%. The export volume of LED light-emitting diode products was approximately 13.1 billion units, an increase of approximately 33% year-on-year. The export volume of LED module products was approximately 7.8 billion units, a year-on-year (YoY) increase of approximately 79%. The cumulative export value of luminaire products for the first ten months was approximately 30.8 billion USD, a year-on-year (YoY) decrease of approximately 11%, with the decline widening by 3 percentage points compared to the first nine months; this accounted for about 75% of the total export share. A small portion of luminaire products, such as Christmas lights and other electric lamps and lighting devices designed solely for use with light-emitting diode (LED) light sources in photovoltaic applications, achieved double-digit growth in both export value and volume, with export values increasing year-on-year by approximately 1% and 8%, respectively, and export volumes increasing year-on-year by 8% and 28%. Additionally, export values for fixed luminaires and portable luminaires continued to decline. Export volumes for home LED luminaires such as bedside lamps and floor lamps grew by 4%.
