Life Farmitank The core of the vertical farming project is a cylindrical stainless steel tank with a diameter of 6 meters and a height of 18 meters. This seemingly ordinary tank conceals a revolutionary technology inside— a 30-layer vertical growing system, which is a fully controlled vertical cultivation system. With this design, it can grow crops covering up to 400 square meters using less than 40 square meters of floor space, equivalent to increasing the planting area efficiency of traditional agriculture by 10 times!

The uniqueness of this technology lies not only in its cylindrical appearance but also in its modular and scalable design . More importantly, the integrated central elevator system within the tank allows for unobstructed operation of all cultivation layers while optimizing labor time and significantly boosting production efficiency.

From Experiment to Market: Behind the Maturity of Technology

The Life Farmitank project began experiments in 2021. After three years of repeated testing and improvements, it was officially launched to the market in 2024. Christian Neves, Head of R&D, stated: "The vertical farming market is still in its early stages, but we have reached a level of technological maturity that allows us to achieve system replicability. "

During the experimental phase, the team conducted cultivation trials on various types of lettuce, aromatic herbs, and microgreens . Through these studies, they continuously optimized processes and procedures to achieve optimal production results. This technology is not only suitable for lettuce and herbs but also offers possibilities for cultivating a wider variety of crops in the future.

Currently, Life Farmitank's business plan primarily revolves around the sales of small and medium-sized equipment . Customers can test this technology with a smaller investment while simultaneously conducting employee training, yield analysis, and quality assessment. This model not only lowers the entry barrier but also provides a validation foundation for future large-scale installations.

More importantly, this vertical farming technology offers new possibilities for sustainable development. It can be used anywhere, whether in deserts, urban high-rises, or resource-scarce regions, to achieve efficient vegetable supply.

Future Outlook: Infinite Possibilities of Vertical Farming

Searches show that currently there are no examples of 30-story plant factories or vertical farms worldwide. However, there are some projects approaching this height, such as:

● The 20-story unmanned vertical plant factory of the Institute of Urban Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences: Located in Chengdu, Sichuan, this is currently the plant factory with the highest number of production layers in a single facility globally, put into operation in 2023.


● Dubai 'Oasis Tower' Vertical Farm: 26 stories, primarily growing food crops, with some floors also serving as residential spaces.

● Singapore Tropical Eco-Design Building: 26 floors, with over half of the exterior area covered by plants.
