Xiaomi and Jufei Optoelectronics Establish Joint Laboratory

According to "Zhongkai Release", on November 19, the launch ceremony of the "Xiaomi & Jufei Joint Laboratory" was held in the Zhongkai High-tech Zone of Huizhou.As the first joint laboratory established in cooperation with Xiaomi in Huizhou, the laboratory will focus on Mini backlight technology innovation in the future, further strengthening diversified cooperation between the two parties in the display terminal field.

It is reported that the Xiaomi & Jufei Joint Laboratory will rely on Jufei Optoelectronics' nationalCNASlaboratory and national enterprise technology center resources to form a high-end R&D talent team, engaged in research and development in the fields of Xiaomi TVs, monitors and related display products, as well as other LED applications, especially new backlight solutions, Mini LED, automotive LED andMicro LED, etc.

In addition, Jufei Optoelectronics and Xiaomi will establish a platform for mutual exchange of technology and resources, focusing on cutting-edge technologies to collaboratively research and develop competitive innovative solutions; through laboratory platforms, they will jointly develop solutions in the fields of smart displays, home and automotive appliances, and smart terminals, applying R&D outcomes and converted products to Xiaomi's terminal products.

Jufei Optoelectronics focuses on SMD LED, Mini/Micro LED and other products, covering multiple fields such as consumer electronics, displays, lighting and automotive electronics. In recent years, while consolidating its position in the domestic backlight LED market, it has actively expanded into the automotive LED market.

Currently, Jufei Optoelectronics' automotive-grade backlight LEDs have entered the supply chains of major global automotive module manufacturers, and its automotive-grade external lighting LEDs are adopted by multiple OEMs, including BYD, SAIC, GAC, Changan, Geely, Chery, JAC, Great Wall, among others, and it cooperates with Tier 1 automotive lighting manufacturers such as Huayu Vision, Jiali Shares, and Jinye Group.

In terms of Mini LED technology application, Jufei Optoelectronics provides Mini LED products for the entire Li Auto series, and supplies a 43-inch Mini LED cloud-based smart screen for the Zeekr 009. Additionally, the company provides the first Mini COB direct-display interactive screen for the Geely英伦 LEVC TX5 vehicle, and supplies the world's first Mini COB star-ring-style smart full-color interactive screen for the new Changan Qiyuan E07 model.

Xiaomi was founded in April 2010 and is a consumer electronics and intelligent manufacturing company centered on smartphones, smart hardware, and IoT platforms. In addition, Xiaomi is actively expanding its business scope, which includes the smart electric vehicle business.

Xiaomi announced its entry into the automotive industry in March 2021 and launched the Xiaomi SU7 on March 28, 2024. For the smart cockpit configuration, the Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with a 16.1-inch central control ecosystem screen, which uses Mini LED backlight technology provided by TCL CSOT. Statistics show that the average monthly delivery volume of the Xiaomi SU7 in the third quarter of this year was approximately 13,000 units.

In the field of new displays, Xiaomi focuses on the Mini LED market, launching the Xiaomi TV S Pro series and its first Mini LED gaming monitor, the G Pro 27i. In addition, Xiaomi released Micro OLED glasses cameras in 2022 and invested in the Micro OLED enterprise Yunyinggu Technology, continuing to expand its layout in new display technologies.
