Source: 中国之光网 Views: 1257

How to choose an eye-care lamp?

Is expensive necessarily good?

Recently

Beijing Consumers Association

Conducted comparative tests on 27 eye-care lamp products

Test results show

The most expensive sample among the samples

Two samples of BenQ models AR19_D and AR20_D

Multiple indicators rank low

Sample Details

Number of samples: A total of 27 eye-protection lamp products explicitly stated for use by adolescents and children, involving 22 brands.

Sample price: Ranging from 99 yuan to 2,298 yuan per unit.

Test items: This comparative test evaluated the eye-protection lamp samples for Color rendering index (CRI), Retinal blue light hazard, Cut-off, Illuminance and Uniformity of illuminance, Flicker percent / modulation depth, Nominal Correlated color temperature (CCT) for reading/writing mode, Luminance uniformity, Shadow reduction effect, Time management, and other items.

Comparative Test Results

Color Rendering Index (CRI)

⭐The Color Rendering Index (CRI) reflects the color fidelity of a light source's color rendering. A higher general CRI indicates that object colors under this type of eye-care lighting are closer to their true colors.

Cut-off Performance

In the cut-off test items

Child Vision Bao OH13-D-1 model

BenQ AR19_D model

Mutong M8 model

The cut-off performance of the 3 samples is relatively poor

⭐Desk lamps should have cut-off properties to avoid excessive glare. Discomfort glare can cause headaches, eye strain, burning sensations, tearing, and squinting.

Correlated color temperature (CCT)

⭐If you engage in activities under high color temperature lighting for a long time at night, it may affect the user's circadian rhythm and reduce sleep quality, among other effects.

The nominal color temperature values of 21 eye-care lamps in the reading and writing mode do not exceed 4000K, rated as Level 1.Three samples, including GUANYA LA-H188, PHILIPS 9290033327, and PHILIPS 66168, are rated as Level 2, and three samples, including Liangliang 5505, BenQ AR19_D, and BenQ AR20_D, are rated as Level 3.

Luminance uniformity

Regarding luminance uniformity indicators, 19 products achieved a uniformity of over 0.9 on their light-emitting surfaces, rated as Level 1; 7 products achieved a uniformity of over 0.8 but not exceeding 0.9, rated as Level 2; The Haisibao OH13-D-1 model product has two types of light-emitting surfaces, resulting in a luminance uniformity of only 0.74, rated as Level 3.

⭐Luminance uniformity reflects the brightness distribution of the light-emitting surface. Poor luminance uniformity can easily lead to visual fatigue and other issues.

Shadow reduction effect

The shadow reduction effect of 19 products was rated as good, at Level 1; the shadow reduction effect of 5 products was average, at Level 2; The average shadow angles measured for the Xiaokeping EWT01, BenQ AR19_D, and BenQ AR20_D models were all less than 24 degrees, reaching only Level 3.

⭐Shadow reduction effect refers to the ability of a luminaire to lighten shadows in the work area caused by partial obstruction from the user. During the use of eye-care lamps, the "writing shadows" produced cause consumers' vision to constantly switch between light and dark, which can easily lead to visual fatigue and discomfort, and may contribute to myopia and other issues.

Time Management

⭐The time management project test product claims the accuracy of the timing function.

Among the 22 samples with time management functions, 14 products were at Level 1; 6 products were at Level 2; the DALEN DL-32WS model and BenQ AR20_D model products measured time deviations exceeding 1.5%, evaluated as Level 3.

Buying Tips

When purchasing eye-care lamps, please note the following points:

Carefully check the labels and instructions for use when purchasing. Product labels should be complete, including: the name or trademark of the manufacturer or responsible distributor, model number, rated voltage, and rated power. The product's instructions for use should clearly indicate the gear settings and position adjustments for reading and writing tasks, as well as information on the color temperature values for these modes. They should also include detailed operating instructions, explanations of function labels, and comprehensive maintenance methods.

It is recommended to prioritize purchasing products with certification certificates or test reports complying with National standard (mandatory / recommended) GB 40070 and GB/T9473, as such products have passed relevant tests and their performance indicators are guaranteed to some extent.

It is recommended to choose eye-protection lamps with a nominal Color temperature setting not exceeding 4000K. When selecting an eye-protection lamp, choose a product with moderate arm adjustment force, simple usage, clear and easy-to-observe operation labels, and clear operational logic. When purchasing, also consider factors such as family members' usage habits and the interaction logic of electronic products. Households with elderly people should pay attention to whether the correct usage method of the product is easy for the elderly to understand and learn, to avoid causing inconvenience in daily life due to difficult operation.

Usage Tips

Pay attention to the gear settings and placement position when using eye-protection lamps

When using eye-protection lamps for daily use, not all settings and positions can meet the requirements for myopia prevention or eye protection. Before use, carefully read the instruction manual or other labeling information to confirm the appropriate setting and placement position of the product during reading and writing tasks.

When using eye-protection lamps at night, it is recommended to adjust the color temperature to below 4000K. When natural lighting does not meet the illuminance requirements, use the eye-protection lamp while simultaneously turning on the room's main lighting for supplementation, to avoid eye fatigue caused by indoor brightness differences. Avoid looking directly at the luminous surface or light source to prevent glare or eye damage.

Clean regularly to avoid dust or dirt affecting the lighting effect. When cleaning the luminous surface of the eye-protection lamp, avoid using chemical cleaners to prevent reducing the light transmittance performance of the luminous surface.

Do not place flammable items around the eye-protection lamp to prevent fire accidents; keep the desktop dry to avoid water stains splashing onto the desk lamp and causing short circuits.
