The crisp autumn air brings abundant harvest. On September 26, the 4th China Zouqu International Lighting Expo kicked off its first day at the China Zouqu Exhibition Center in Zhonglou District, Changzhou. On the opening day, the venue was bustling with crowds and extremely lively.

In the afternoon of the opening ceremony, the highly anticipated "Forum on New Quality Productive Forces Empowering High-Quality Development and Innovative Applications of Smart Healthy Lighting" was successfully held, bringing a splendid feast of ideas to the lighting industry. Focusing on the theme of "Smart + Health", this forum built a bridge for knowledge exchange in the lighting industry, helping enterprises to more clearly grasp the development trends in the field of healthy lighting. The forum was jointly hosted by China Association of Lighting Industry(中国照明电器协会) and Changzhou Lighting Electrical Association, organized by the Talent Training Working Committee of China Association of Lighting Industry(中国照明电器协会), Light of China Network (Wuxi Lide Shidai Technology Co., Ltd.) and Jiangsu Delta International Convention & Exhibition (Group) Co., Ltd., with thanks to Light Formula Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd. for their support. The forum was moderated by Hong Bing, Editor-in-Chief of Light of China Network and Deputy Director of the Talent Training Working Committee of China Association of Lighting Industry(中国照明电器协会).
Industry experts and corporate leaders from CALI, the Talent Training Working Committee of CALI, Fudan University, Shanghai Times Light, Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd., and other organizations attended the event, offering suggestions for lighting technology innovation and industry development, enabling more enterprises to discover new paths for breakthroughs and change, and creating new opportunities from quantitative to qualitative changes.
Liu Shengping, Executive Director of the China Association of Lighting Industry(中国照明电器协会), delivered an opening address, setting a wonderful tone for the forum. She pointed out that the China Association of Lighting Industry and the Changzhou Lighting Electrical Appliances Association joined hands to co-host this forum, aiming to gather industry technical achievements and explore new concepts, technologies, results, and applications in smart healthy lighting. This initiative promotes collaborative innovation across the upstream and downstream of the supply chain, fostering higher-quality and higher-level development of the lighting industry. Subsequently, Jiang Min, Deputy Director of the Management Office of Zhonglou High-tech Zone in Changzhou, also delivered a sincere address. As early as the 1980s, Zouqu earned the reputation of "Hometown of Chinese Luminaires". Over the years, the town party committee and government have attached great importance to the development of the luminaire market. Today, Zouqu Town has become the second-largest distribution center for civil decorative lighting and the largest for outdoor lighting products in China. Currently, the lighting industry is in a period of significant transformation, making us more aware of the importance of building consensus and strengthening cooperation. He stated that this forum serves as an important platform for showcasing lighting technology and transforming innovative achievements, focusing on new quality productive forces, high-quality development, and smart healthy lighting. It invites numerous lighting manufacturers and experts to gather together, hoping that everyone will spark more ideas through this opportunity, actively explore new paths to promote high-quality development of the lighting industry, and continuously expand the lighting consumer market.
During the guest speech session, Yan Zhongshu, Deputy Director of the Exhibition Information Department of the China Association of Lighting Industry, delivered a wonderful speech titled "Illuminating a Healthy New Life with the Light of Wisdom – Directions and Trends in the Development of the Lighting Industry". He introduced the highlights of the lighting industry's development since 2024, including adjustments in production structure, improved benefits for enterprises above designated size, and changes in export scale and structure. He also mentioned the situation in the international lighting market and the current state of China's lighting industry, emphasizing the opportunities brought by the dual carbon goals and policy support. From production and operation data to market conditions, and then to policy opportunities and association actions, he provided a multi-dimensional perspective for understanding the development of the lighting industry, helping enterprises and practitioners grasp industry dynamics, clarify development directions, and reasonably plan future strategies.
Liu Xizheng, Chairman of Jianzheng Lighting Technology (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd., shared valuable experience in innovative development under the theme "Exploring New Engines for the Lighting Industry". He proposed that business competition requires innovative thinking, pointing out that China's lighting industry is in a shrinking market cycle, and innovation is the new engine for growth. He also proposed five new engines for the lighting industry, including AI smart lighting and photovoltaic lighting. Through the discussion of these new engines, he provided new ideas for industry development, paying special attention to integration with multiple fields and seizing new opportunities, which has guiding significance for lighting enterprises in formulating strategies and innovative development. In addition, he discussed issues to note in healthy lighting and the opportunities for lighting development in Changzhou.
Li Nuoyi, a doctoral student in Professor Lin Yandan's research group from the Department of Light Sources and Lighting Engineering at the School of Information Science and Technology, Fudan University, elaborated in depth on "Quantification and Practical Significance of Non-Visual Effects of Light on the Human Eye", providing scientific theoretical support for healthy lighting. She first illustrated the impact of light on health with examples, explaining the relationship between non-visual channels and the brain's circadian rhythm system, and describing experimental research on dose-effect exploration, including light regulation of rhythms and the non-visual effects and action time of light. She also introduced relevant models and the calculation of effects in actual scenarios, proposing a standardization project for the dosage of photobiological effects. Her research results have important application value in fields such as healthy lighting design, helping to promote the development of the lighting industry towards a greater focus on human health.
Lin Jiliang, founder of the Light Formula Research Institute and Senior Advisor for Asia-Pacific at Aodebao Lighting Group, presented "Healthy Lighting - Theory and Design Practice," giving attendees a deeper understanding of healthy lighting. Mr. Lin comprehensively elaborated on the theory and practice of healthy lighting, covering its background and significance, relevant regulations and standards (illustrated using the WELL standard), as well as healthy lighting systems and design methodologies. He emphasized meeting the diverse needs of different groups in various scenarios, highlighted the characteristics and applications of adaptive smart lighting systems, and underscored the importance of healthy lighting in satisfying human physiological and psychological needs, thereby helping to drive the lighting industry towards a more human-centric and health-oriented direction.
Xu Xiaomin, General Manager of the Greater China Lighting Division at Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd., shared insights on "The Impact of Spectrum on Biological Systems," broadening attendees' horizons. He detailed the impact of natural spectrum on biological systems and Seoul Semiconductor's related research achievements, such as the evolution of full-spectrum LED technology. Through experimental data, he demonstrated the advantages of SunLike LED, sharing research findings on its effects on myopia inhibition, cognitive processing speed, and sleep. These findings have significant application value in the lighting field, providing scientific basis and practical experience for developing lighting products that better meet biological needs. He also shared the company's applications in horticultural lighting, obtained certifications, and future research directions.
Liu Erli, Deputy Director and Senior Engineer at the National Luminaire Quality Inspection and Testing Center, presented on "Standards and Testing Supporting High-Quality Development," emphasizing the importance of standards and testing in the development of the lighting industry. He comprehensively elaborated on standards and testing in the lighting field, covering luminaire safety standards such as GB 43472-2023 and their supporting standard revisions, as well as reliability, energy efficiency, and performance standards for LED luminaires and related certification. Meanwhile, he introduced the National Luminaire Quality Inspection and Testing Center from multiple aspects, including its development history, various qualifications, service areas, and advanced equipment. The center provides strong support for quality assurance and industry development in the lighting sector.
Hong Bing, Deputy Director of the Talent Training Working Committee of the China Association of Lighting Industry, delivered a speech titled "Empowering Smart Healthy Lighting with Professionalism," bringing the forum's presentation session to a successful conclusion. He introduced various aspects of smart healthy lighting, from theoretical definitions to practical applications, including technical foundations, principles of healthy lighting, and professional talent cultivation and innovative training models. In terms of talent training, he further shared information on the evaluation of lighting designers' professional capabilities, training methods and content, as well as the AIGC Lighting Design Workshop. This series of training programs provides a knowledge system and resource support for promoting the development of the smart healthy lighting field, helping to enhance the overall level and innovation capability of the industry. Finally, Hong Bing, Editor-in-Chief of China Light Network and Deputy Director of the Talent Training Working Committee of the China Association of Lighting Industry, delivered the closing remarks. He stated that the forum aims to promote deep integration of the supply chain and create a fulcrum for the sustained and healthy development of the lighting industry.
