Briefing on the Operation of Large-Scale Enterprises in the Lighting Industry from January to July 2024
From January to July 2024, with the intensive introduction of a series of policies, market demand steadily recovered. Industrial production in the lighting industry grew steadily, and the export delivery value of enterprises above designated size was better than that of the same period last year, while business operations remained stable. Affected by multiple factors, electric light source output declined, while luminaire and lighting device output continued to rise. This article provides a brief analysis of the development of large-scale lighting enterprises in the first seven months of 2024.

On a monthly basis, fluctuations occurred only from January to April; after peaking in April, it declined, while maintaining a relatively stable trend from May to July, with industrial value added improving compared to the beginning of the year. 3 Output of luminaires and lighting devices increased by more than 10% Luminaires and lighting devices of enterprises above designated size, January-July 2024 Production share by region According to incomplete statistics, from January to July this year, the output of luminaires and lighting devices by large-scale lighting enterprises maintained growth, increasing by more than 10% compared to the same period last year. Guangdong ranked first in output, accounting for nearly 66% of the national total, with a year-on-year (YoY) increase of about 18%. Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Shandong ranked second to fifth. Among them, Jiangxi Province and Shandong Province grew by 16% and 14% respectively compared to the same period last year; while Zhejiang and Jiangsu decreased by about 15% and 20% year-on-year (YoY) respectively. Zhejiang Province ranked first in electric light source production, accounting for over 30% of the national total, with a year-on-year (YoY) decline of more than 18%. Guangdong, Jiangxi, Hunan, and Fujian ranked second to fifth in production. Among them, production in Guangdong, Jiangxi, and Fujian fell by approximately 5%, 25%, and 70% year-on-year (YoY), respectively; while Hunan saw a year-on-year (YoY) increase of about 80%. 4 Export delivery value of lighting fixture manufacturing increased by six percentage points Export delivery value of lighting fixture manufacturing, Jan-Jul 2024 Regional Share According to incomplete statistics, from January to July, the export delivery value of lighting equipment manufacturing by large-scale enterprises in the lighting industry increased by nearly 6% year-on-year (YoY). Among them, electric light sources decreased by nearly 3% YoY, luminaire manufacturing increased by over 7%, and the manufacturing of electrical accessories for lamps and other luminaires increased by over 10% YoY, showing the most significant growth. By province, Guangdong ranked first with a 51% share of the national export delivery value, increasing by about 6% year-on-year (YoY). Zhejiang (up over 4%), Jiangsu (up nearly 10%), Fujian (down 1%), and Jiangxi (basically flat compared to last year) ranked second to fifth respectively. Revenue situation of lighting fixture manufacturing by enterprises above designated size from January to July 2024
According to incomplete statistics, the number of lighting fixture manufacturing enterprises above designated size increased by nearly 3% from January to July this year; Revenue increased by about 1% compared to the same period last year. Total profit increased by about 2% Year-on-year (YoY), which is 1.6 percentage points lower than the total profit of industrial enterprises above designated size nationwide. The number of loss-making enterprises remained basically flat compared to the same period last year, and the loss amount of loss-making enterprises decreased by about 4% Year-on-year (YoY). Month by month, the Revenue of lighting fixture manufacturing enterprises above designated size peaked in January-February, then declined, with a slight rebound in June; in terms of total profit, profits were low in March, reached the highest in May, and fell slightly in July, while remaining basically consistent in other months. The total profit of enterprises above designated size specializing in the manufacture of special-purpose equipment for lighting fixture production increased by more than 16% compared to the same period last year, and Revenue increased by more than 14%. The number of loss-making enterprises decreased by about 23% Year-on-year (YoY), while the loss amount of loss-making enterprises increased by nearly 160% Year-on-year (YoY).
