New Regulations! Several Outdated Lighting Technologies to be Phased Out in the Construction Sector!

Recently, to better ensure the quality and safety of construction projects and promote technological progress in the construction industry, the Chongqing Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Commission releasedthe "Notice on Prohibiting and Restricting the Use of Outdated Technologies in the Construction Sector (2024 Edition) (Draft for Comments)", covering 125 technologies across multiple fields, including construction techniques, kitchen and bathroom products, doors/windows and glass curtain walls, electrical appliances and intelligence, etc. The public may submit comments before October 20.
Among them, regarding electrical appliances and intelligence, it is mentioned that incandescent lamps and halogen lamps shall not be used for urban roads, public areas, public buildings, and finished residential lighting due to low energy efficiency and high energy consumption; instead, green energy-saving lighting products such as LED lamps should be used. Fluorescent powder fluorescent lamps and general-type inductive ballasts for fluorescent lamps shall not be used for low-voltage lighting due to low luminous efficacy, poor color rendering, severe lumen depreciation, and low energy efficiency; the replacement products are LED lamps, energy-saving inductive ballasts, and other green energy-saving lighting products. Mercury-containing fluorescent lamps, temperature controllers, and electrical devices shall be strictly prohibited from use in all construction projects citywide due to their tendency to easily pollute the environment and endanger personal health; instead, other lighting equipment, temperature controllers, and electrical devices that meet standard requirements should be used.
