In the first six months of 2024, with the intensive introduction of a series of policy measures, policy effects gradually emerged, domestic demand continued to recover, and external demand improved. Industrial production in the lighting industry grew steadily, export delivery value showed an upward trend, and business operations were better than the same period last year. In terms of output, electric light sources and luminaires and lighting devices showed a trend of polarization. This article analyzes the development of large-scale lighting enterprises in the first half of 2024.

From June 2023 to June 2024, the lighting industry sentiment index showed a fluctuating trend, but overall demonstrated a gradual recovery. In June this year, most indices were better than the same period last year, reflecting the effective strategies of lighting enterprises in actively practicing technological innovation and responding to market changes. With the strengthening of endogenous economic repair momentum, influenced by factors such as the low base of the same period last year and the shift of the Spring Festival month, various indices of the lighting industry reached their peak in February 2024, then rapidly declined, with a slight improvement in April. In May and June, the export sentiment index continued to improve, remaining in the stable zone, while the China Light Industry Sentiment Index, revenue sentiment index, and profit sentiment index declined slightly, still hovering in the cooling zone.

II. Industrial value added was 8 percentage points higher than the same period last year

In the first half of 2024, industrial production accelerated its recovery, benefiting from a series of policies successively introduced by the central government, such as large-scale equipment updates, consumer goods trade-ins, and adjustments and optimizations in real estate. Market demand was released, supported by factors such as the accelerated development of new quality productive forces. The production in the lighting industry showed a positive recovery trend, with the growth rate of industrial value added in June alone being 7 percentage points higher than the same period last year. Month by month, the growth rate in the first half fluctuated slightly, reaching a peak in April before declining slightly, and remained stable in May and June, rising compared to the beginning of the year. The cumulative growth rate of industrial value added in the first six months was 8 percentage points higher than the same period last year.
