On June 25, the 15thGuanghua Engineering and Technology Award Ceremonywas held in Beijing,Institute of Urban Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciencesresearcher was awarded the "Guanghua Engineering and Technology Award", in recognition of his outstanding achievements in technological innovation in facility agriculture engineering in China.
Researcher Yang Qichang has long been engaged in theoretical innovation and scientific R&D in the field of controlled-environment plant engineering. He established the theory and methods of plant light recipes, promoting the industrial development of smart LED in plant factories. He first proposed the method of active capture and spatiotemporal transfer of light and heat in facilities, providing technical support for greenhouse energy saving and structural simplification. He also pioneered the breeding accelerator technology system for plant factories, driving disruptive innovation in rapid crop breeding technologies. In recent years, as the primary contributor, he has received two Second-Class National Awards for Scientific and Technological Progress, one China Patent Gold Award, and more than ten provincial and ministerial awards, making outstanding contributions to the development of facility agriculture in China.
It is reported that a total of 41 experts across the country received the "Guanghua Engineering and Technology Achievement Award" and the "Guanghua Engineering and Technology Award" respectively. The "Guanghua Engineering and Technology Award" was initiated by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and approved by the National Office for Science and Technology Awards. It is managed by and is a significant award in China's engineering and technology sector. It aims to reward Chinese engineers and scientists who have made significant contributions in the fields of engineering, technology, and management, encouraging their enthusiasm and creativity in research, development, and application. In 1996, the Guanghua Engineering and Technology Award was approved by the National Office for Science and Technology Awards as a science and technology award supported by social forces. To date, 15 editions of the award have been held, with 383 scientists and one organization from various engineering disciplines such as mechanics, transportation, information, electronics, chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, health, and engineering management receiving the award. The award was jointly funded by Academician Zhu Guangya of the two academies, Taiwanese industrialists , Mr. Du Junyuan, and Mr. Yin Yanliang. The Chinese Academy of Engineering is responsible for the specific evaluation work, and the award is presented every two years.
