Focusing on Industry Hotspots, Discussing High-Quality Development Together — The 12th China Lighting Industry Conference Held in Shenzhen
On May 10, as the inaugural "China (Shenzhen) Lighting Industry Supply Chain Technology Innovation Exhibition" kicked off, the "2022–2023 (12th) China Lighting Industry Conference," themed "Integration of Technological Innovation, Enhancing Quality through Intelligence and Green Practices," was held concurrently. The conference, featuring a main forum and sub-forums, complemented the exhibition by focusing on policies, technologies, products, markets, brands, and services closely related to the high-quality development of the lighting industry. It invited renowned scholars, experts, and frontline engineering technicians from the industry for in-depth exchanges and discussions.

He Ye, Vice President of the China National Light Industry Council, Chairman of the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI), and Director of the SAC/TC 224, attended the conference and delivered a keynote speech. Maurice Maes, President of the Global Lighting Association (GLA), also attended and spoke.

He Ye stated that as the country's development enters the "Three New and One High" stage, the lighting industry is transitioning from high-speed growth to medium-to-low speed development. With the decline of LED dividends, there is an urgent need for breakthroughs in new technologies. The industry is moving from a highly fragmented state to relative concentration, facing contradictions between meeting demands in more segmented markets and high-level market needs versus optimizing its own structure. In this new development stage, we should base ourselves on the new development concepts of innovation, coordination, green development, openness, and sharing, building a people-oriented approach for the lighting industry. Furthermore, within the broader context of accelerating the construction of a dual circulation pattern dominated by domestic circulation with mutual promotion of domestic and international circulations, we aim to build strong brands for "Made in China, Chinese Lighting," sharing more technology with the world. She pointed out that achieving high-quality development in the lighting industry requires establishing an indicator system for high-quality development. By driving core corporate competitiveness through technological innovation, prioritizing quality and efficiency, enhancing the industry's core functions, improving the overall competitiveness of the industry and supply chain, increasing industrial discourse power, shaping a competitive yet cooperative, open and inclusive industry ecosystem, and cultivating a group of world-class enterprises with global competitiveness, we can achieve excellence in products, brands, innovation leadership, and modernized governance.
He Ye pointed out that the lighting industry will base itself on the "Three New and One High," resolutely implement national policy requirements, and promote the "Five Practices," namely practicing the strategy of self-reliance in science and technology, practicing the strategy of standards and quality, practicing the digital economy strategy, practicing the green and low-carbon strategy, and practicing the strategy of expanding consumption, to achieve high-quality development characterized by innovation, high standards, high efficiency, sustainability, and dual circulation.

Maurice Maes
Maurice Maes gave a brief introduction to the Global Lighting Association, stating that GLA shares political, scientific, and other relevant content with the lighting industry and puts forward positions and initiatives on the international stage. Due to technological advancements and the demand for digitalization, energy saving, and environmentally sustainable lighting solutions, GLA will face more challenges and opportunities. Recently, GLA released the "Position Statement on Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation," issued guidelines related to health regulations, and provided input to COP4 of the UN Minamata Convention. Next, GLA will focus on four strategic priorities: idealized regulatory guidelines for lighting product and system design, environmental sustainability, healthy light, and global regulations on hazardous substances.

Professor Ying Fangtian, a doctoral supervisor at Zhejiang University, explores design advancement through design-driven innovation. He conducts explorations in areas such as ecological design collaboration, design empowerment, international design education cooperation, design and ecological civilization, and standardization platforms, aiming to enhance the value of industry and life by integrating design, technology, business, users, and culture.

Xu Hong, Secretary-General of the Healthy Home Professional Committee of the China National Light Industry Council and Chief Engineer of the China Household Electric Appliance Research Institute, briefly introduced the concept of healthy homes, the special applications and standards of lighting technology in healthy homes, and further extended to the application of lighting technology in physical health.

At the conference, representatives from the Zhaga Consortium, Seoul Semiconductor, ams OSRAM, Shanghai Samsung Semiconductor, and Hangzhou Everfine Opto-Electronics delivered keynote speeches on topics including ecological design methods for smart lighting, the impact of high-quality natural light on biological systems, sensing applications, high color quality solutions, and standard testing for smart healthy lighting.
This industry conference focuses on specialized market segments, featuring sub-forums such as the China Smart Streetlight Development Forum, the Inaugural Meeting of the Market Circulation and Service Professional Committee of the China Lighting Association, the China Horticultural Lighting Innovation Forum, the China Landscape Lighting Industry Conference, and the High-Quality Development Forum of the Shenzhen Safety, Energy Saving, and Environmental Protection Industry Cluster (LED Horticultural Lighting and Industrial Lighting Session).
The conference was hosted by the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI), and moderated by Wang Zhuo, Secretary-General of CALI. Support for the event was provided by the Zhaga Consortium, Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd., ams OSRAM, Shanghai Sanan Semiconductor Co., Ltd., Ten Pao Electronics (Huizhou) Co., Ltd., and Hangzhou Everfine Opto-Electronic Co., Ltd. Nearly 400 participants from lighting enterprises, associations, and experts across the country attended.
