On March 18, 2023, the 4-day 28th China Guzhen International Decorative Lighting Expo grandly opened at the Lamp Capital Guzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Guzhen Town, Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province. Organized by the Zhongshan Municipal People's Government and the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI), and undertaken by the People's Government of Guzhen Town, Zhongshan City, and Zhongshan Guzhen Lamp Capital Expo Co., Ltd., this edition has been successfully selected as part of the Ministry of Commerce's "2023 Consumption Boost Year" series of activities, and is also a key economic and trade event under the Zhongshan Municipal Government's "Guangdong Trade Nationwide, Quality Manufacturing in Zhongshan" initiative.

The exhibition takes the Lighting Capital Guzhen Conference and Exhibition Center as the main venue, with branch venues including Lihe Lighting Expo Center, Huayi Plaza, Star Alliance, Lighting Capital Times Square, Guyi Ruifeng International Lighting Distribution City, Guyi QingfengLEDCommercial Plaza, Guzhen Chang'an Lighting Distribution Electronic City, Cao San International Lighting Distribution City lighting sales area, covering a total exhibition area of over 150square kilometers, attracting more than 3500exhibiting companies, the highest number of exhibitors in history.

At 10:00 AM, the opening ceremony of the 28th Guzhen Lighting Fair was held in the presence of leaders and guests from various levels, commercial counselors from multiple countries' consulates in Guangzhou, representatives of leading industry enterprises, industry experts, designers, high-quality foreign buyers, representatives of major domestic luminaire markets, domestic business associations, and media friends. He Ye, Chairman of the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI), stated in his speech: 2023 was a year of clearing away clouds to see the sun and regaining confidence. The recently concluded National Two Sessions released strong signals regarding the main theme of economic development. The lighting industry will undoubtedly gain greater development space and achieve higher-quality development in the new round of building a modern socialist country under the new era.

Guzhen Town was jointly cultivated and named the "Capital of China's Luminaire Industry" by the China National Light Industry Council and the China Association of Lighting Industry（中国照明电器协会）, and is a lighting and decorative lighting market renowned both domestically and internationally. Leaders at all levels of government in Zhongshan City and Guzhen Town have always attached great importance to the lighting and decorative lighting industry, implementing scientific planning and precise positioning, and introducing multiple policy measures to encourage enterprises to excel and strengthen, thereby creating a favorable environment for industrial development. In 2022, among the 356 provincial-level specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative lighting enterprises in Guangdong Province, Zhongshan accounted for 10% of the total, ranking fourth, which is a remarkable achievement. The city is vigorously promoting the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, represented by the decorative lighting industry, and actively strengthening national and provincial foreign trade transformation bases such as Guzhen Decorative Lighting through new measures like developing the digital economy and new forms of foreign trade. It is striving to deliver an impressive performance in building the Reform and Innovation Pilot Zone. Leveraging the hosting of this Lighting Fair, we aim to build a robust professional market platform for decorative lighting, further facilitate the integration of the decorative lighting industry supply chain with domestic and international markets, and accelerate the expansion of markets along the "Belt and Road". Deputy Secretary of the Guzhen Town Party Committee and Mayor Ruan Zhili, in his speech, pointed out that at this edition of the Lighting Expo, the latest and most avant-garde design achievements in traditional lanterns, commercial lighting, and various categories of luminaires will be showcased. The exhibition highlights three 'prominent'. First is highlighting intelligence: smart luminous efficacy, smart streetlights, digital landscape lighting, as well as achievements in smart home, smart security, smart office, and smart education based on smart lighting will be fully displayed, representing that Guzhen's decorative lighting has entered the intelligent era. Second is highlighting energy saving: outdoor lighting closely integrates photovoltaic energy storage technology; the latest technologies in high-energy-saving, high-power LED, and energy smart control technology results will also be presented, representing that the latest transformation of scientific and technological achievements and their integration have taken root in Guzhen. Third is highlighting platform activities: since 2 month, we have held over 100 supporting events. Forums and summits analyze industry development trends, guiding new trends and directions for the industry, further highlighting the authority of the Guzhen Lighting Expo.

At the opening ceremony, Kuang Zhi, Secretary of the Guzhen Town Party Committee, presented the "Appointment Letter as Consultant for the Decorative Lighting Industry Development in Guzhen Town, Zhongshan City" to 19 industry experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs, including Liu Shengping, Vice Chairman of the China Lighting Association; Wang Micheng, Vice Chairman of the China Lighting Association and President of Hongyan Electric; Wang Yaohai, Chairman of OPPLE Lighting Co., Ltd., a Vice Chairman Unit of the China Lighting Association; and Lin Liangqi, CEO of NVC / NVC Lighting, also a Vice Chairman Unit of the China Lighting Association.

At the opening ceremony, signing ceremonies were held for 13 investment projects, including the Hongyan Smart Home Production Base, NVC / NVC Lighting optoelectronics industry chain flagship project, and UAV and chip projects. The total expected investment exceeds 30 billion yuan, with an output value exceeding 80 billion yuan. Participating enterprises include leading companies in semiconductor packaging and decorative lighting that play a role in "strengthening the supply chain", as well as manufacturers of next-generation information display technology equipment that serve to "supplement the supply chain". The projects range from UAV manufacturing with broad application prospects to new energy accessory manufacturing and equipment manufacturing for green, low-carbon industrial pollution treatment, aligning with the "Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality" policy.

During the exhibition, in addition to multiple major events held at the main venue, various characteristic activities were also organized in rotation at all major sub-venues and business districts.
