Cireco LLP is a leading waste management company in Scotland, partnering with volume measurement expert Quvo Limited and Blickfeld LiDAR to utilize LiDAR sensors for inventory monitoring. The automated volume monitoring solution provides accurate data on the amount of waste stored in warehouses. Real-time data not only improves the utilization rate of material recovery facilities but also provides reliable data sources for accounting and logistics departments, serving as a crucial basis for compliance with material storage regulations.

So far, Cireco has relied primarily on weighbridge data for inventory monitoring, recording the delivery and dispatch times of materials. These data, combined with expert experience, are used to plan and control the production capacity utilization of sorting machines. Since waste is frequently transported and moved between storage bins and sorting machines, the waste pile is a constantly moving entity. It is inevitable that discrepancies will occur between the actual quantity sorted and the estimated amount. Storage and plant capacities cannot always be fully utilized. Therefore, it is crucial to implement a digital solution for reliable on-demand inventory monitoring of materials, optimizing the planning and utilization of material recovery facilities and related processes such as logistics.

1. Three Blickfeld Cube 1 LiDAR sensors are mounted on the ceiling to cover the silo and detect stored waste. The three devices have a wide field of view, sufficient to cover large areas.

2. Laser-based sensors continuously generate real-time 3D data streams. The associated perception software uses this data to calculate the weight of materials in each box with precision down to the ton. Any changes in inventory are immediately visible. Data can also be accessed remotely, enabling timely assessments by on-site staff.

3. Thanks to Blickfeld's volume monitoring Solution, this recycled materials management company can now access reliable data sources on demand for inventory management. Accurate data enables better prediction of resources in each shelter and utilization of more storage capacity, thereby improving the planning, utilization, and control of material recovery facilities.
