The Zhejiang Lighting Electrical Appliances Association held the "2022 Member Representative Assembly and the Third Meeting of the Sixth Council of the Zhejiang Lighting Electrical Appliances Association" in Hangzhou on February 21, 2023. During the conference, the "Working Meeting of the Lighting Engineering Professional Committee of the Zhejiang Lighting Electrical Appliances Association" was also convened. Chen Haijiang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Industry under the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, attended the meeting to deliver a speech and provide guidance.

Also present were representatives from vice-chairman units including Zhejiang Yangguang Lighting Electrical Group Co., Ltd., Inventronics (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd., Chenhui Guangbao Technology Co., Ltd., and Hangzhou Hongyan Electric Appliance Co., Ltd., as well as all executive directors, directors of the 6th Council of the Zhejiang Lighting Electrical Association, and some member representatives, totaling over 200 attendees.

Chen Haijiang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, delivered the opening remarks. He highly affirmed the work of the Zhejiang Lighting Electrical Appliances Association and fully recognized its contributions to serving the development of the manufacturing industry. He pointed out that the concept of this conference is highly aligned with the direction of digital manufacturing development in Zhejiang and is fully consistent with the goal of promoting high-quality development of Zhejiang's manufacturing industry.

Ling Yingming, Chairman of the Zhejiang Lighting Electrical Association and Party Branch Secretary, on behalf of the 6th Council of the Zhejiang Lighting Electrical Association, delivered a work report titled "Striving Forward, High-Quality Development of the Lighting Industry" to the Conference. The report elaborated and explained seven aspects to the Conference: "Adhering to Party Building Guidance, Strengthening the Association through Party Building," "Development Status of Zhejiang's Lighting Electrical Industry," "Characteristics of Zhejiang's Lighting Industry Development," "Reflections on Industry Development," "Association Work Report for 2022," "Existing Problems in Association Work," and "Association Work Plan for 2023."

Regarding the "development characteristics of Zhejiang's lighting industry in 2022," Ling Yingming accurately summarized it as "overall stable, with a slight decline." He pointed out that, based on the industry data for 2022, although the total output value of Zhejiang's lighting industry was rising, various segmented indicators showed varying degrees of year-on-year (YoY) decline. The main reason was a decrease in lighting production volume, but prices increased; residential lighting production decreased while commercial lighting production filled the gap; LED luminaire production remained flat while output value rose, thereby offsetting the declining figures.

At the same time, Ling Yingming also pointed out in his report that entrepreneurs in the Zhejiang lighting industry are quite responsive to changes in market demand and government policy guidance. Therefore, many companies have already targeted the development and layout of smart lighting, smart street poles, smart classrooms, low-carbon lighting, and cross-industry integration, fully demonstrating their personalized characteristics in niche segments. High-quality industry development has become a common aspiration among entrepreneurs. Zhejiang lighting has taken the lead in implementing the "Two Pioneers" strategy by innovating more lighting products from the perspectives of "intelligence, health, and low carbon."

Looking back on 2022, Ling Yingming, on behalf of the Association, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Council leadership team and member enterprises that love and care for the Association for their collaborative efforts and strong support in promoting the Association's growth and development. The report concluded by pointing out: 2023 is a turning point year for China's economic development, as well as a critical year testing our survival in the post-pandemic era. In the new year, we must take on new responsibilities and strive to explore and develop, creating a lighting industry with high-quality development!

During the Conference, the working meeting of the Lighting Engineering Professional Committee of the Zhejiang Lighting Electrical Association (hereinafter referred to as: ZLEA Lighting Engineering Professional Committee) was held first. He required that the new organizational structure, along with the newly appointed vice presidents, group leaders, and deputy secretaries-general, closely align with the tasks and goals of the Zhejiang Lighting Association, further implement the development concept of "low-carbon, healthy, and intelligent," adopt new measures in response to the new environment and requirements of current industry development and the new pattern of dual circulation development at home and abroad, and deepen and solidly carry out various works;

Upon completing the agenda of the 2022 Member Representative Assembly and the Third Meeting of the Sixth Council of the Zhejiang Lighting Electrical Association, the Conference held the 2023 Lighting Forum to explore and forecast new trends in the lighting industry for 2023. The Forum invited renowned industry experts, lighting observers, and outstanding entrepreneurs to comprehensively interpret the "Outlook for China's Lighting Industry in 2023" and provide leading guidance on topics such as "What does the lighting industry compete on in the post-pandemic era?", "How to implement smart concepts and truly change the light environment?", and "How to achieve dual-carbon Energy saving goals".

At the Forum, lighting observer Wen Qidong was invited to deliver a report titled "Overview of the Operation and Future Prospects of China's Lighting Industry." He introduced the current state of the lighting industry from aspects such as "recent operational status and analysis, recent challenges faced by the lighting industry, short-term outlook for the lighting industry, and future development directions of the lighting industry," analyzed the current situation and challenges, predicted the domestic and export sales trends for this year, and provided an outlook on the industry's future development.

Wen Qidong stated that the long-standing trend of continuous growth in lighting exports has reversed. Achieving growth in lighting exports in 2023 faces significant challenges, and the downward trend may continue. The domestic market in 2023 is expected to bottom out and rebound, showing a significant recovery compared to 2022, while project-based business driven by investment is likely to become a highlight.

Tang Guoqing, Director of the Semiconductor Lighting Technology and Application Professional Committee of the China Illuminating Engineering Society and Executive General Manager of MLS Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech titled "2023, Let's Create Brilliance Together." He elaborated on ten keywords: "Year One, Recovery, Boom, Positioning, Deep Cultivation, Home Ground, Expansion, Cross-boundary, Highlights, and Philosophy." He stated, "2023 marks the starting point for recreating the glory of the lighting industry; 2023 is Year One for this renewed brilliance—rebound and restart, focus and expansion."

Tang Guoqing pointed out: Entering 2023, the global market is generally recovering. The global manufacturing PMI in January 2023 was 49.2%, an increase of 0.6 percentage points from the previous month, ending seven consecutive months of month-on-month decline. The domestic lighting market is similar. For example, the 8th International Third-Generation Semiconductor Forum held in Suzhou on February 8 had 27 sub-venues and 1,600 attendees; another example is the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Shenzhen Lighting and Display Engineering Industry Association held in Shenzhen on February 15, which had 4 sub-venues and 1,100 attendees. Chinese lighting has no possibility of external competition, only internal strife. The greatest feature of the LED lighting era is: everything can circulate internally, with no worry about chokepoints; the supply chain is complete, and the ecosystem is intact. Regarding the direction of lighting development, as Academician Jiang Fengyi stated: healthier, more energy saving, and more environmental protection!
