Hao Luoxi and Wei Minchen elected as Vice Presidents of the International Commission on Illumination (CIE)

On January 17, 2023, the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) convened its 2023 Executive Committee meeting to elect officers for the next Board of Directors.

At the meeting, Professor Hao Luoxi, nominated by the Chinese National Committee, was officially elected as Vice President of the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) following a vote by representatives of all national committees. He is responsible for educational affairs. This marks his second consecutive term as CIE Vice President, with the current term running from 2023 to 2027.

At the same time, after voting by representatives from various countries and regions, Dr. Wei Minchen was elected as Vice President of the International Commission on Illumination for the term 2023-2027.

According to available information, Hao Luosi is a professor and doctoral supervisor currently teaching at the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University. He serves as Vice President of the International Commission on Illumination (CIE), Honorary Vice Chairman of the China Illuminating Engineering Society, and Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Illuminating Engineering Society. He has long been engaged in teaching, research, and engineering practice related to light, vision, color, and lighting design. In recent years, he has focused on evidence-based research and design applications for healthy human-centric light environments.

Data shows that Dr. Wei Minchen is currently an Associate Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He graduated from Fudan University in 2009, and obtained a Master of Science degree and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Pennsylvania State University in August 2011 and December 2015, respectively. In October 2015, he joined the university as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2020. Currently, he also serves as the Director of the "Center for Color Imaging and Metaverse Research". Dr. Wei's research focuses mainly on fundamental color science, color management for imaging systems (display, camera, AR/VR/MR systems), and lighting systems. Currently, Dr. Wei serves as Vice President of the Hong Kong Lighting Society, National/Regional Representative for Divisions 1 and 8 of the [[CIE]], and Associate Editor for Color Science of the Journal of the Optical Society of America A published by the Optica (formerly OSA). Dr. Wei was awarded the "Google Global Research Scholar Award" in 2021 and the "Excellent Young Scientists Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China" in 2022.
