2023 National Spot Checks Cover These 4 Types of Lighting Products; Call for Comments on 5 Draft National Standards Related to Lighting
Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation released the "Announcement on the 2023 National Supervision and Spot Check Plan for Product Quality", covering 142 types of products including electronic appliances, durable consumer goods, electrical engineering and material products. Among them, four lighting-related products are involved: reading and writing desk lamps, fixed general-purpose luminaires, recessed luminaires, and explosion-proof luminaires.
Compared with the 2022 national spot checks, the types of lighting products involved in the 2023 national spot checks have changed, increasing from 2 product categories in 2022 to 4 this year. The specifically added lighting products are fixed general-purpose luminaires and recessed luminaires.Among them, the non-compliance rates for fixed general-purpose luminaires in the 2019–2021 national spot checks were 5.8%, 2.5%, and 6.8%, respectively. In the past three years, the national spot checks conducted a special quality inspection only in 2019 on recessed LED luminaires within the category of recessed luminaires, with a non-compliance rate of 11.5%.
The increase in the variety of lighting products subject to spot checks reflects the national sampling's close alignment with market changes, focusing on consumer goods related to people's livelihood and the original mission of building a country with strong service quality, which helps accelerate the pace of building a modern socialist country.
For lighting products included in the national sampling inspection plan, especially newly added categories, relevant manufacturing and sales enterprises must pay special attention. They must strictly adhere to the baseline of quality and safety, continuously improve product quality, provide consumers with adequate quality assurance, and actively contribute to building a leading nation in the lighting industry.
