Over 50% energy saving! Shanghai Fengxian's 8,000 street light energy-saving retrofit officially launched

On November 30, with the completion of the replacement of the first LED street light lamp cap in Xianpu Road, the 2022 Shanghai Fengxian District-managed street light energy-saving renovation project was officially launched, marking a solid new step for the implementation of the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in the road lighting sector of Fengxian District towards green, low-carbon high-quality development.

Compared with traditional high-pressure sodium lamps, LED lamps have obvious advantages in energy saving, environmental protection, reliability, and durability, especially in energy saving. Energy consumption can be reduced by 50% to 70%. . The stock of sodium lamps for road lighting in Fengxian District is about 30,000 units. Since 2018, the District Transportation and Construction Center has annually allocated funds for sporadic renovations, renovating more than 2,000 lamps before and after.

This year, in accordance with the "Three-Year Action Plan for Energy-Saving Retrofit of Road Lighting Facilities in Shanghai" and Fengxian's intrinsic requirement to adhere to green and low-carbon development, Fengxian District is accelerating the energy-saving retrofit of road lighting. The plan is to replace all existing sodium lamps within two years, achieving a 100% coverage rate of energy-saving luminaires for road lighting in the district by end of 2023. At that time, annual electricity consumption will be reduced by approximately 15 million kWh, saving over 10 million yuan in electricity costs. Simultaneously, significant improvements will be achieved in aspects such as illuminance and uniformity of illuminance. This year, 8,000 sets are planned for implementation , primarily covering main and secondary roads in four towns/streets: Zhuanghang Town, Zhelin Town, Jinhui Town, and Xidu Subdistrict.

Green and low-carbon, energy saving comes first. Accelerating the implementation of road lighting energy-saving retrofitting is an important content and specific measure to implement the concept of green development, carry out dual carbon actions, promote the transformation of old and new kinetic energy, and achieve high-quality development.
