Over 100 Chinese lighting enterprises will be showcased at the 2022 Frankfurt Light + Building exhibition!

October 2, 2022, while China was celebrating the National Day holiday, the Frankfurt International Lighting and Building Technology Exhibition (Light + Building 2022) finally opened at the Frankfurt Exhibition Center in Germany.

In 2022, as overseas regions gradually entered the normalized epidemic prevention stage, Europe has significantly relaxed various epidemic prevention restrictions, making it possible to hold gathering events such as exhibitions.

Currently, for domestic enterprises going to Europe, the primary challenges are high economic and time costs. Flights between China and Europe remain limited in frequency, expensive, and often require transfers due to the ongoing pandemic, with a risk of sudden cancellations. Additionally, upon return from business travel, employees must undergo epidemic prevention isolation measures, incurring further economic and time costs. Therefore, while the main purpose of past exhibitions was simply to exhibit, today's exhibition trips, beyond exhibiting, may prioritize comprehensive visits to European and American clients as a cost-effective option under current constraints. Furthermore, there is a risk of infection for travelers; the probability of contracting COVID-19 during a trip to Europe far exceeds that within China.

Even in the current situation, we see that more than 100 Chinese lighting enterprises have resolutely gone to Europe to exhibit in order to open up markets and expand their businesses. This reflects the spirit of our Chinese lighting enterprises: fearlessness in the face of hardships and perseverance in forging ahead. It also aligns with the historical trend of the Chinese lighting industry standing on its own, going global, and competing worldwide. Here, we applaud these "counter-flow" practitioners for their persistence in using Chinese lights to illuminate the world!

It is understood that 106 Chinese companies participated in this Light+Building exhibition, covering less than 2,500 square meters. Both the number of exhibitors and the total area were less than one-third of previous editions. Nearly 90% of these companies were located in Hall 8.0, while the previously crowded and bustling Greater China Pavilion in Halls 10.1 and 10.2 was hardly visible this time, largely due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic.

从企业所在地来看，广东企业52家独占鳌头，占近半壁江山，浙江企业42家可与前者分庭抗礼，两省参展企业数量即占整体的近九成。其中来自深圳的企业29家傲视群雄，宁波亦不惶多让贡献26家。产业链方面，照明成品企业达79家独占3/4份额，其余为产业链配套企业。

As a global industry with a current scale of 680 billion RMB and exports exceeding 65 billion USD, the Chinese lighting Industry faces challenges in continuing to expand into international markets amid deep disruptions to global supply chains caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical conflicts. Against the backdrop of the national strategy to build a new development pattern featuring dual circulation of domestic and international markets, in addition to focusing on overseas exhibitions, local exhibitions must also be given due attention.

First, as the global manufacturing center and supply chain hub for the lighting industry, China provides a solid industrial foundation for local exhibitions. Second, domestic exhibition conditions and environments are constantly improving, further contributing to the development of local exhibitions. In light of this, the "China (Shenzhen) Lighting Industry Supply Chain Technology Innovation Exhibition" (CLITI Exhibition), organized by the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI) and focusing on the entire lighting industry supply chain, has emerged naturally. It aims to create an integrated "conference + exhibition" platform for global lighting industry business matching, information dissemination, and showcasing technological innovation achievements, providing "one-stop" high-value services for the entire industry to grasp development directions, expand market opportunities, and promote innovative cooperation.
