Smart streetlight + charging parking space, Tianjin builds a vehicle-grid interaction smart comprehensive charging demonstration station
Recently, the Tianjin Wuqing Urban Comprehensive Charging Demonstration Station (hereinafter referred to as 'Wuqing Demonstration Station') began construction. The Wuqing Demonstration Station is planned to include 56 charging spaces, 1 smart battery swapping device, and 6 Smart streetlights. It will serve the Florence Town, Creative Milan Business District, Wuqing High-speed Railway Station, and over 10 surrounding residential communities. The demonstration station features advanced charging technology, concentrated functional applications, and orderly vehicle-grid interaction.
Wuqing Demonstration Station, while absorbing and drawing on new technologies such as the Jintian Lake Comprehensive Charging Service Center's high-speed DC charging piles and low-carbon buildings , has innovatively implemented pilot scenarios for vehicle-grid interaction and intelligent operations & maintenance. According to staff, the smart gate at the station entrance will automatically identify electric vehicles and grant access; via voice prompts and LED displays , it guides owners to charging spots, eliminating the "trouble" of searching for a parking space . The demonstration station is equipped with smart streetlights, integrating public services such as information dissemination, environmental monitoring, and voice broadcasting . When shopping in commercial districts, vehicle owners can track their charging progress by following the charging station's WeChat official account, and also enjoy services like seamless battery detection, fast-charging progress reminders, and appointment-based charging, ensuring that shopping and charging are both accomplished. The demonstration station is also equipped with V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) charging piles. Electric vehicles can not only charge but also feed power back to the grid to participate in market trading, transforming new energy vehicles from transportation tools into mobile "power banks". Calculations show that the Wuqing demonstration station can achieve an annual charging and swapping volume of 5.49 million kWh, reducing carbon emissions by 5,023 tons annually. Smart streetlights at the charging station in Guobin Garden, Yichang City In recent years, China's new energy vehicle (NEV) market has grown rapidly. To address the challenges of charging and parking for NEVs, many cities are exploring the construction of electric vehicle charging stations that integrate with municipal infrastructure. Smart lamp posts, which combine charging stations (piles), smart lighting, information dissemination, environmental monitoring, video surveillance, public broadcasting, and smart parking, enable drivers to more easily charge or park their vehicles in congested urban areas. These have become true "Smart + Charging + Parking Stations," enhancing urban service quality. On the other hand, the rapid growth in the number of new energy vehicles makes smart charging and parking stations an increasingly important operational service content for smart light poles as integrated infrastructure, with vast domestic market demand worthy of promotion and replication.
