Announcement of the Review Results for the "2022 China International Lighting/Luminaire Design Competition · Agricultural Lighting Special Category"

The judging for the "2022 China International Lighting/Luminaire Design Competition · Agricultural Lighting Special Category," hosted by the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI) and the People's Government of Guzhen Town, Zhongshan City, and co-organized by the Secretariat of the China International Lighting/Luminaire Design Competition, the Agricultural Lighting Professional Committee of CALI, China Light Network, and Agricultural Lighting Network, concluded on August 25, 2022.


Since its launch on March 31, 2022, the "2022 China International Lighting/Luminaire Design Competition · Agricultural Lighting Special Category" has received active participation from both within and outside the industry, with a total of 87 valid entries. Starting August 16, 2022, online public voting was conducted, receiving a total of 130,675 votes. Scan the QR code below to view the online voting results.

On August 23, expert review was conducted through centralized online video seminars. Representatives from the Zouqu Town Government, the leading unit of the Agricultural Lighting Professional Committee of the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI), supervised the entire review process online.

The expert review panel is composed of experts from the China Association of Lighting Industry(中国照明电器协会), National Electric Light Source Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (Beijing), Planning and Design Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, National Luminaire Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, and Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The expert group conducted scoring and comprehensive evaluation of the entries based on more than ten indicators such as "originality", "market acceptance", "promotion of plant/animal breeding", and "installation convenience", focusing on aspects including energy saving and environmental protection, innovation, practicality, functionality, and aesthetics.


Wang Zhuo, Secretary-General of the China Lighting Association, pointed out in her speech that the number of entries for the "2022 China International Lighting/Luminaire Design Competition - Agricultural Lighting Special Category" increased compared to last year. In particular, it attracted a batch of conceptual works from current students, providing us with very novel design ideas. She hopes that the evaluation experts will strictly control the process from their respective professional and technical perspectives, carefully review and judge the entries, conduct rigorous evaluations, and take responsibility for each work, each author, and the entire competition.


After review, a total of 8 entries were awarded the Excellence Award, including 3 entries in the Household Category and 5 entries in the Commercial Category. The award ceremony will be held during the China (Shenzhen) Lighting Industry Chain Technology Innovation Exhibition on September 15, 2022, at the "China Smart Agricultural Lighting Innovation Forum". In addition, the works winning the Excellence Award will be recommended to participate in the selection for the first, second, and third prizes in the functional category of the China International Lighting/Luminaire Design Competition.


To encourage creations and participation from current students and more industry professionals, the Home Category, in addition to selecting 3 outstanding physical works, also selected 7 shortlisted conceptual works . Conceptual works that receive the Shortlist Award will be recommended to participate in the Creative Category of the China International Lighting/Luminaire Design Competition.


The list of all award candidates for the "2022 China International Lighting/Luminaire Design Competition · Agricultural Lighting Special Category" was publicly displayed on the official websites of the China Association of Lighting Industry, the China International Lighting/Luminaire Design Competition, and the Agricultural Lighting website from August 26 to September 2, 2022. I. Excellence Award - Residential Category

- Manual Mode: Based on plant status, you can manually control the supplemental lighting duration and spray duration.

- Mist humidification: Built-in water reservoir with dual-nozzle misting, enhancing visual appeal while hydrating plants.

1. Design Concept

ECOKITCHEN MT is a smart planter based on hydroponics and plant technology. Featuring a prominent silver-gray tone that conveys a high-tech feel, it is paired with a deep gray inspired by overexposed space backgrounds, known as Space Gray. In terms of product structure, it adopts the concept of hierarchical combination and separation seen in space rockets, resulting in a tiered stacking design that is both aesthetically pleasing and practical.

2. Technical Highlights

This product integrates hydroponic planting technology. Based on the LED panel, a set of white louvers is added, which is not only aesthetically pleasing but also serves as an optical Lens; each unit is designed with interlocking upper and lower curved surfaces, allowing them to stack perfectly to form an attractive and space-saving layered structure.


Indoor Growing Rack – Zhongshan Shanzai Agricultural and Forestry Technology Co., Ltd.

is mainly designed for homes and offices, enabling indoor flower cultivation and vegetable growing. It allows children to learn planting through hands-on experience, and helps the elderly grow flowers and vegetables as dietary supplements.


II. Commercial Group Excellence Award

Adjustable Angle Dual-Tube Grow Light — Foshan Haolaite Optoelectronics Co., Ltd.

1. Design Concept

Based on the application scenarios of horticultural lighting products, linear plant lights are mostly used as top light sources and inter-plant supplemental lighting. Moreover, according to actual plant production and layout, there is a greater need for luminaires that can adapt to light distribution, thereby increasing the PPFD value on the illuminated plant plane, improving spatial light utilization efficiency, and achieving the goal of high-efficiency energy saving.

2. Technical Highlights

1. This plant grow light features an integrated transparent dual-tube design. The emission angle of each tube can be independently adjusted via the green knob on the lamp cap. When used as a top light source, the tubes can emit light in the same direction; when used as an inter-plant light, they can emit light in opposite directions. Other angles can also be adjusted according to actual needs, with an anti-over-rotation design.

2. Cascade wiring from lamp caps on the same side makes cable management simpler and faster.

3. The luminaire design uses hooks for suspension, allowing both horizontal and vertical hanging to suit different application scenarios;

4. The lamp body material is resistant to UV yellowing; PC and PMMA are optional, suitable for various plant growing environments.

A. Dual-channel supplemental lighting: red-blue supplemental lighting + far-red supplemental lighting spectrum; the far-red spectrum can be supplemented according to actual needs;

C. Optimize heat dissipation to ensure the enclosure temperature rise is less than 5°C, preventing burns to plant leaves close to the luminaire, while guaranteeing the long lifespan of the LED and its driver.

1. Design Concept

When cultivating tall fruit and vegetable crops in plant factories, plants grow from seedlings to branching, flowering, and fruiting, reaching heights of 1-2m. Each stage requires different luminous intensity and spectrum. The luminaire features adjustable spectrum for precise growth control at different stages; adjustable luminous intensity to meet light requirements during growth; and a lifting function to maximize energy savings.

2. Technical Highlights

1) Adjustable spectral luminous intensity: A self-developed dimmer with adjustable spectral luminous intensity, which can control multiple LED channels using only one power supply to achieve spectral adjustment.

2) Adjustable height: Reasonably utilize structural installation and fixation methods, combined with lifting devices, to adjust the height according to the growth status of plants to match luminous intensity requirements, maximizing energy savings.

3) High luminous efficacy: Uses international brand high luminous efficacy LED + reasonable heat dissipation design, achieving up to 2.7umol/J.

1. Design Concept

This product is mainly used for small potted plants in homes and offices. Since many people are accustomed to placing a small green plant in indoor spaces to improve their living and working environments, it not only helps relieve work fatigue but also adds a touch of fun to daily life. Therefore, we have specially designed a professional luminaire for potted plants to provide light compensation. The main body is made of aluminum and PC plastic, ensuring excellent heat dissipation for the light source, which makes the product more durable and reliable. Meanwhile, with high-quality surface treatment, the overall appearance is more minimalist, modern, and business-like with a technological feel, allowing it to blend into architectural spaces as a decorative piece.

The overall design of the luminaire is inspired by "water". Both water and light are sources of life, providing essential energy for plant growth. Therefore, the main body of the luminaire is shaped like the "ripples" created when a water droplet falls onto a lake surface. This design incorporates both life elements of light and water. Meanwhile, the product series is named "Source", signifying both the source of life and enduring heritage. The overall design of this product mutually embraces and interprets both form and meaning.

2. Technical Highlights

① The height of the light source can be adjusted up or down according to the different growth cycles of plants, meeting the lighting needs of plants at different stages.

② The light source integrates an intelligent control module that can adjust lighting duration and luminance according to the needs of different plants.

3. The entire lamp adopts a structure with separated optics and electronics, providing better ventilation for the heat sink and better protecting the electronic control module.

④ Through professional heat dissipation design, the maximum surface temperature of the product is controlled at around 40°C, ensuring safe use for humans.

⑤ The product design outlines the overall silhouette with simple geometric lines, giving the product a slim, minimalist, and modern technological aesthetic.

⑥ The base uses an integrated aluminum plate, which is more stable and durable compared to wooden materials on the market.

1. Design Concept

The product shape is formed by smooth circular segments, evoking the feeling of a Chinese window. Standing inside looking out, or standing in front of the luminaire to view vibrant plants, resembles viewing potted plants from within a window. The overall form is a segmented circle, offering aesthetic appeal from both near and far. It recalls the gates of a Chinese courtyard, bringing to mind the lush greenery of small circles.

Design Concept:This design is a smart home plant lamp, inspired by the shape of a mushroom, with an appearance that is more appealing. This plant growing feature provides great convenience for home gardening.

1. Design Concept

This product is designed to enhance the playability, ornamental value, and interactivity of small plants. The inner rotatable light ring and planting cup structure allow for easy adjustment of the plant's lighting area while facilitating convenient observation of plant conditions, thereby increasing the playability and interactivity of desktop potted plants.

2. Technical Highlights

Two light rings with a total of 16 4200K full-spectrum plant-specific LEDs promote the formation of anthocyanin and phytochrome, enhancing color and vibrancy.
