On July 24, the installation of smart streetlights for Phase I of the first smart road in Luqiao District, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, was completed. The integration of multiple poles into one is a highlight project of smart road construction, injecting digital intelligence genes to create "scenery along the entire road."

On that day, at the construction site, a crane was lifting a 12-meter-long all-black street light pole. Construction workers then placed the base of the pole into a pre-dug pit and finally secured it."The installation of smart streetlights along Cai Fu Avenue will be carried out in three phases, with a total of 41 smart streetlights completed in the first phase."A person in charge of on-site construction stated that after all installations are completed, cable laying and transformer setup will follow. Compared to ordinary street lights, smart streetlight poles will also be equipped with LED screens, integrating lighting, advertising, and other functions into a single pole. The black appearance pairs well with the asphalt road, creating a more aesthetically pleasing look that blends seamlessly with the overall landscape of Cai Fu Avenue.

It is understood that the Wealth Avenue and auxiliary roads constitute the first smart road upgrade and renovation project in Luqiao. The total designed length of the road is 775.83 meters, with a design speed of 60 km/h. Upon completion, it will operate as a six-lane dual-carriageway. The current construction progress has entered the final stage. As a major urban arterial road, Wealth Avenue will enhance road quality and distinctive character through intelligent transformation, meeting citizens' demand for high-quality travel, while also fulfilling landscaping requirements to create "scenery along the entire route."

On the other hand, with the advancement of urbanization, the number of street lights is increasing, leading to higher energy consumption. Issues such as cable theft, electrical leakage, and tilted poles mean that street lights lack refined energy saving control measures. Smart streetlights allow users to check the working status of all street lights anytime and anywhere using a computer or mobile phone. The smart streetlights currently selected for Caifu Avenue feature 5G integration, on-demand lighting, fault alarms, and environmental monitoring. They not only withstand wind up to level 15 but can also monitor water levels during flood seasons . The significant improvement in intelligence reduces maintenance costs and improves management efficiency from the perspective of quality improvement and efficiency enhancement.

Urban road lighting is an important component of urban public infrastructure. The deployment of smart streetlights, leveraging IoT technologies to enable remote centralized control and management of street lights, will add a striking visual appeal to urban road development.
